This game was quite satisfying

I was getting pissed at all the shots of him smiling.
I for one am not too optimistic about the Astros winning on Thursday either. Today was the day. They'd rather be somewhere else.
You couldn't have done that yesterday?
So this lineup change has put all your black holes together...Reddick, Chirinos Springer, and Brantley. The Astros have no chance to win this series unless these guys wake up.
Badass. It's been a while since I was there.
Had to look on the map to find Todd Mission, that's a new one for me.
Hell, it's good advice for long-timers too.
He arrived bottom 1.
ETA and I have been personal friends for many years, despite that we live in different states. We speak periodically on the phone, and he actually hosted me in Houston for an OWA OD several years back. I buy tickets with the group every year, and it seems that my schedule falls apart at the end, and Mr. & Mrs. ETA get my tickets with my compliments. He doesn't come around as often as he used to, and I'm a little sad about that.
TY, Mr. Happy - great login name - makes me think of this guy
Yah, tks! All help appreciated!
(Try again) "Curious, when did each of you last post - b/f today?"
BTW, what part of East Tx?
Ever heard of Colmesneil or Lake Tejas?
Curious, when did each of you last post?
Well, I do know that you're going to the game! Have a ball!
Thank you very much. I hope I have done half that much.
There have been a lot of excuses made over the years for someone, great or not great, acting like a prick.
None of them ever seem very convincing.
https://www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/astros/article/Springer-Correa-Altuve-coffee-H-E-B-commercial-12802113.php
Apologize for linking a commerical but this one has two of my favorite addictions, coffee and Astros. Disfrute!
Someone has to.
I can confirm that Spanish Flowers still knows how to cook tex-mex and the OWA contingent is a group of mighty fine people.
One thing I do not do is criticize or make fun of someone’s religion. My disgust with the Mets is having Tebow in major league camp and taking a spot from someone more deserving. My criticism is of his lack of talent at this level, and of the Mets blatantly using his celebrity for publicity, not Tebow’s faith.
Great to see you around, ETA! Will you be at Opening Day?
No one. Even last night, I called my mother and she said "I'll call you back later, I'm talking to your sister."
So Lucky's it is!
I'll be at Lucky's unless HH says differently.
Great news! I owe you a phone call.Any time. Just wanted to visit.
Right. Especially since Luhnow et al have Absolutely No Clue about how spending too much in one area might limit their options somewhere else.
No, because it ended in about an hour at 8:45 or so.
I was impressed with the short duration of the draft. Now it makes sense.
Seriously, how did you assholes know the draft was going on? I got nothing from Vauthrin, nothing from Yahoo, when I logged in to the league site a week ago or so there was no date for the draft. Fuck this.
Why the fuck did I not know when the draft was? How the hell did everyone else know?I wasn't even invited. Just consider me in last place.
I wonder who's on my team. Hopefully Brady and Bell.
Everyone is assuming White can hit at the major league level. I'm as big a bus driver as their is, but even I am not going to assume that about anyone.
nothing funny about chicken pox as an adult either.
The game will be blacked out in the Astros and Giants' home television territories.
Im not sure, I always hear auto-ejection tossed out after the warn both teams.
Unless a pitch got away from Gregerson to the 1st batter and caught a batters ankle and then the UMP was obligated to toss him.... now the Astros face runner at 1st, no outs with no closer.Doesn't the ump still have discretion?
If you didn't see Waldo's recap from Saturday, it was very funny.+1
7th round
Freeman, Michael Oklahoma State (OK) LHP R/L 5S -- 6'8" 235lbs DOB: 10/07/91
Edit;
5S=fifth year senior
I'm a fan of cooking a few strips of bacon about half way, and then putting them in the waffle iron on top of the batter so that that after it cooks you end up with bacon embedded in the waffle. Plus the waffle then soaks up the remaining grease so you don't really need syrup at that point. Top with a couple of fried eggs.
so the whole purpose of the astros going to the al is to play the cubs in the world series in 2017
My wife says BOTH of those things all the time.
You're doing okay so far, but I want a few more runs.
Round 6, Pick 166 Brock Dykxhoorn RHP Central Arizona College 6'8" 240 (Junior College 2)

fastball, change up, slider has come on this year. Not overpowering (low 90's)
Joseph walks. Hard to believe Farnsworth is pitching in MLB.
So all you guys are happily watching this game over the internet?
Lackadaisical.
I'd love to see Minnie Minoso get into the Hall of Fame.
Dingo flies out to left and the no-hitter is intact.
Mlb.tv is usually like that to some extent.
Passed ball, sloppy play by Castro.
Fire up MLB.TV.
I like the Brian Williams version better.
I got that tip from Mrs ETA, and I think it makes a great cookie.
Speaking of whom, when is the last time we heard from ETA?
Are all the tickets taken?
My recommendation is that everybody petition BudGirl and Mrs. ETA for cookies. Other things can be purchased, but not those beauties.
I can't figure out whether this is your guess or the number of Shiners it would take to make someone think they'd win 87.
Is there still a ticket available?
Done (except for the pay part, as they were already offered gratis to the first taker). Ron Brand - if you'd please earmark my tickets for ETA and Mrs. ETA I'd be much obliged!
It's not necessarily a lack of maintenance. Like most pieces of infrastructure, it was designed for a specific purpose and a finite lifespan. Going beyond its engineering in both usage and duration will be a problem at some point, regardless of how well it's maintained. "Functionally obsolete" and "meticulously maintained" are not exclusive. And I don't know how well this bridge was maintained. But I do know it was old and has been used harder than was intended. It's pretty common these days.
One thing that may play out is that they were storing 1,300 times the permitted amount of anhydrous ammonia (yes, one thousand three hundred times).
Harrell has calmed down a bit on his pitch count
Can you post a link? I don't do the facebook, but they may let me view your photo page if given a direct link.
How did Wallace look/seem?
I saw that he didn't get the win. In a game where the team has the lead in the fifth and keeps it, is it always the pitcher finishing the fifth who gets the win? I thought the official scorer had some discretion in those games. Clemens line didn't look deserving when compared to Bedard's.
Good news!
So if I offer you "30 days free....If you don't feel it's the best you've ever tried, send it back" it's "deceptive"?
Really feels like people didn't read the rules this year...
I got the tickets in the mail today. 20 of 'em, View Deck II, Section 430, eleven on Row 10 and nine on Row 11. The best part is that on the back of the ticket is a coupon for 20% off THE ENTIRE GUEST CHECK at Houston area Denny's. Well, except for the 2468 Value Menu, whatever that is.
The bad news is that Mr. Happy can't make it in because the air fare is onerous, so unless something breaks his way we'll have an extra ticket if someone wants it. Or another seat buffer between my funky butt and the rest of you guys.
I guess we should rename the thread to Opening Day 2013--ETA Style.
If anyone would like to step up and take PCOL2000's ticket, let me know.
no wonder she is staying away from the board.
After all the moves they made, I do believe this is the worst. I'd rather invite you all over to watch the game.
Club tickets are $35-58.
Terrace are $23.
AYCE are $30.
circle change. that was his straight changeup, not a curve.
Basically, a knuckle curve is thrown with more than one finger tip on the ball, like a kuckleball. It is much closer to a true knuckleball grip and is thrown with a more fastball-like motion (like the knuckleball), which is more deceptive. This is what Burt Hooton threw. What they call a spike curve, is really just digging one fingernail into the ball to get a better grip. It's thrown like a traditional curveball. The spike curve is what Cliff Lee and Mike Mussina throw.
For some reason your post made me think of Pee-Wee's Big Adventure.
And yes, I skimmed those posts.
I always let someone else drive. Lessens my stress.
I'm enjoying it. I was going to cut down a mesquite tree, but then figured beer and chainsaws don't mix. So I thought maybe I'd shoot some cans off the fence post, but guns and beer mix no better. So I then I decided that as long as no one can hear me, my guitar pickin' and beer won't hurt anyone.
I'm on my fifth beer.
Shiner FM 966. Not sure when it came out, but just saw it at the HEB this morning. Having one now at the ranch on this BEAUTIFUL afternoon. Not bad. Not bad at all. Think I'll sit on the porch and pick some tunes while I down a few.
For some reason this conjures up the image of Tal Smith in a Nudie suit. Weird.
Or maybe BAC SnS numbers?
HUH?!? How in the hell did we ever allow 3 non-lawyers to become active posters?!?
Soccer as a youth sport didn't exist 50 years ago. I suspect that now it's the dominant youth sport.

Opening Day update: The date change has resulted in a rash of ticket sales (so they say).
Field Box and Dugout are sold out.
If we want 3B side (out of the sun), there are Club and Terrace available.
We can get in the All You Can Eat Sections (252 and 253) right now, but they are going fast.
I don't have 20 responses yet. New policy: I have to pay the entire balance up front, I can't put down a deposit on Opening Day tickets.
Any preference to where we sit?
biggio was 68% i didn't hear the percentage for bagwell but he was 3rd in voting.
The 12th day of the 12th month of 2012 is not a day of deliverance but of delivery for devout American fans of Westvleteren 12, brewed by the reclusive Belgian monks at St. Sixtus Abbey.
The celebrated beer — often called the best in the world — is usually only available for sale at the abbey, located in the Belgian countryside. But starting Wednesday, buyers in the U.S. and other countries can purchase the beer at select retailers for $84.99 for six bottles.
Why this sudden blessing for beer lovers? The abbey happened to need an expensive renovation recently. But its 21 monks live an austere life — which means, among other things, that they purposely lack cash reserves. So the monks reluctantly made the decision to export small amounts of the precious nectar overseas for the first time.
Graphic design/video production/trial strategy/witness prep/general AV/tech support to trial teams, usually requiring me to sit in court for weeks on end. Some jury consulting. Usually civil cases (lots of IP work).
Only if we were discussing who Jesus Christ has previously recruited.
And there's the pick by Schaub in the red zone. #8 looking brutal today.
That punter is fast. That interception was pathetic.
What the fuck is wrong with this team?
Just saw some pics on facebook from friends at the game. Lots of empty seats for an 8-1 team.
I don't live near Houston, but is there really such tepid interest in this team? I know the Jaguars are not a marquee opponent, but still. You only get to see the home team a relatively small number of times in the NFL.
People staying home to watch the Cowboys piss themselves against the Browns?
Have you ever eaten lard on its own?His name is Limey. Brits aren't known for tasty food.
Walt Disney was only mortal. It takes a special kind of evil to be a Nazi, fascist, socialist and communist all at the same time.
I find this quite amusing. I am probably one of the only posters here that does not own an apple product, of any sort.
I would take that as meaning a player who has experience at DH. I don't believe plugging in an average position player and expecting them to hit is how they want to or should go about it.
I was offered an AT&T iPhone 5 (64gb) at the Apple store this past Saturday morning. I'm not near my upgrade window, so I declined, but the workers were selling them while I was standing in the store.
It's a new day. Tal's Hill, the train, and Brocail all survive.
And while I'm dishing out advice... Seems a couple of Texas schools (Baylor, UT, y'all listening) could benefit from this kid. WOW!
Tell him yes on 1 and no on 2.I wouldn't mind most people hanging out at Joe's in CF while I watched the game.
It takes time and money to take them down...
* Mandating the roof be closed at MMPUS during the 2005 WS
I bet you just miss Hunter!
If Jacoby Jones runs back a kick off for them next week, like he did yesterday, I may level a small village.
My real concern was that the Jets' shitty offense was teaching the rest of the country how to counter the Texans' blitz. It took Wade a Kubiak* to adjust to the Jets running draws and screens. When he did, they shut 'em down again.
Here's the key thing: Otterbox.
I prefer to carry my iPhone "naked", because I find the casings bulky and ugly.
Here, an Android fanboy does drop tests for the iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S3.
The iPhone got a little scuffed up on the edges after 4 consecutive drops onto stone from pocket, chest, ear and head height. The Samsung screen cracked from the chest-high drop, and again from the ear-high drop, which also saw the back come flying off (but that was ok because it's just a cheap bit of plastic...WTF?). He didn't even try the head-high drop on the Samsung.
On durability, it was game, set, match iPhone.
Honestly, since the lineup will be dictated by analytical models and the team will be playing in the AL, they really just need to hire the guy with the best bullshit to hang out with the players on the road.
Huh. The Rockies are our "natural" inter-league rival. I never knew.
So is Isaac suddenly The Thing That Wouldn't Leave?
They're winning at a 0.167 clip since the ASB (7-35). If that keeps up (and there's no reason to expect it won't), they'll end up at 46-116, or 0.284. That would be the 17th worst WP of all time.
Oh, and I've rounded up all the figures in the Astros' favour.
Armstrong's quiet engineering demeanor was perhaps best demonstrated after a flight in the Lunar Lander Training Vehicle (LLTV). Affectionately known as the "flying bedsteads," the LLTV was used to train astronauts who would be making approaches to the lunar surface and was basically a large jet engine pointed downward and small thrusters that could control the attitude of the vehicle during flight.
It was considered a very difficult, and dangerous aircraft to fly. On a LLTV flight in 1968, Armstrong lost control of the aircraft due to a propellant leak and windy conditions. He ejected only moments before it crashed in a fireball. According to James Hansen's biography, an hour or so later fellow astronaut Alan Bean returned to his desk after lunch and found Armstrong at his own desk simply "shuffling some papers." Bean didn't believe what others had told him about the crash so he asked Armstrong who replied, "I lost control and had to bail out of the darn thing."
And this is one of the series' where we have a good shot at winning a game.
Larry Dierker was quoted in today's lengthy USA Today article on how long the turnaround would take. He replied, "three to 20 years".

He must have not read the 45 grooming threads we've had in the B&Q.
I agree with you, man, and I meant no disrespect to the season ticket holders of this traveling horseshit show-you all are the real fans. I tip my cap to you. However, to call the yard during a game and talk to or get a message to the usher to find out who's sitting in your seats who you aren't struck me as somewhat odd.
Aww, I know that guy. Still can't remember his real name; he's just "Cheese" in my phone.
One of the coolest things to watch, even if you're not a fan of or don't even understand baseball, is an outfielder's reaction and motion the second the ball comes off of the bat. Just from the sound of the contact, the trajectory and the speed, he can make NASA-level calculations in a fraction of a second and position himself within inches of where that ball will land, 200 feet before it gets there. Of course, he's not a rocket scientist, and he's not psychic. He has just played so many games that it's become instinct.
That same type of second nature reaction is something you'll pick up the more you cook. You'll be able to hear a change in the way a piece of fish sizzles when its texture changes after a few minutes in a hot pan. You'll be able to tell from sight if a piece of chicken is overcooked by the way the meat draws back from the bone. Without a timer and without opening the oven door, you'll be able to tell how much longer your cake has to bake just by the smell. But until you get to that level, just like the baseball player, you have to learn the fundamentals, and don't fucking deviate from it, or you'll be playing for the Houston Astros.
I always got along with him, but then again, I get pretend to like a lot of the posters here.
They actually allowed 8.13 runs a game
More fun stuff courtesy of BusterTweet: ELIAS: Astros are 0-11 in extra-inning games, and they're only the second team ever to lose their first 11 extra-inning games ('69 Expos).
Breaded tenders done reasonably well, w/ very average coleslaw and fries.
Mark, are we in for Karbach?
Every once in a while I'll see something posted somewhere on the internets that reminds me of some of the REALLY stupid stuff I did when I was younger. And as I recall some of this really stupid stuff, I find myself grateful that I 'grew up' in the pre-YouTube days/days before everyone carried a camera (or videocamera) phone with them at all times.
Thanks Coach. Figured I'd climb back on before there was a bandwagon...
2.5 games in CJ is 5-10 with 2 HRs... Who knew CJ had HR power...
Fuck, CJ. Touch the fucking bag to get the lead runner first.
Why "fuck you"?
Nice throw from Snyder to nab Stubbs. 2-0 Bottom 5
What, pray tell, is a "Buttery Nipple," other than being an adult alcoholic beverage?
Surprising that Spoetzl produces only ~400k bbls annually.
Wait, was he really playing shortstop or was that just a mistake in the box score? If he really was, WTF?
Mills was a bit under dressed for the occasion.
Levine just tweeted that he has a minor groin strain and will be back soon.
Well, that's as good an excuse as any to link to this.
Having been arrested before and spending a week in jail before my $45,000 bail could be arranged, I can empathize with you and your son. My thoughts and prayers are with you. However, Coach is right, and you sound like you get it. It's a shame that parents have to pick up the pieces. I'd glad that my parents were there during my times of trouble, and I hope that your son is thankful or what you all have done for him.
I'm not really allowed to tell you who I represent unless a client tells me I can. I might not go as far as denying that I represent a client, but in a weird way that would be ethically less troubling than telling you I did represent someone without their consent. Court dates are not confidential and should be posted in the county court system, but the lawyer has no obligation to tell you the date.
Sorry you're going through this. If our children weren't idiots they would rule the world.
no, i do not need to know. my unsolicited advice came from my experience.
his probation, if that is what it is, will be revoked, and the original sentence will be imposed. at least that is a possibility.
my advice to you and Momma: back off. he did what he did and needs consequences for it. trying to rescue him does him no good.
I would guess you have but have you tried the Montgomery County Jail lookup?
http://www.mctx.org/mcso/JailRoster.htm
It should show his bond amount.
If he was out on parole, it's probably a different set of rules than a simple arrest. If he's an adult, his lawyer's probably ethically unable to tell you confidential information. The son could direct him to, but then the information might not be confidential.
Sounds like you aren't getting the whole story.
I'm sorry, this is way outside my legal knowledge. I had a personal problem with a family member, and it took about 24 hours to get the guy processed and out of jail. You have a choice of posting bond personally (putting cash through a window) or using a bail bondsman. The bail bondsmen will know all that stuff and that may make it worthwhile, but so will a criminal attorney, and we found the county sheriff's office to be very helpful.
What county are you in?
I didn't know they had Wi-Fi in the joint.
Well, if you run into Bagwell somewhere you will have a subject for discussion.
Who is going to look out for Opie?
I want to take this oppotunity to let everyone know that I was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor - twice.
That, and an estimated umteen thousand new IRS agents to enforce the tax also really concerns.
What I'm getting at is that paying the penalty is dead money, while paying the premium gets you broader insurance than you have now.
The issue many people, including those in professional risk management jobs, is that most of the time an insurance premium gets you a bunch of gobbledegook on too much paper and nothing else. If you don't have a claim, you would have been better off not buying it. Very true. Yet people still buy (sometimes involuntarily, like collision liability), because what they have done is transferred their risk of loss to an insurance company.
That's the true value of an insurance policy.
I'm not challenging your statement, I'm just curious to know what's the minimum coverage allowable under the ACA.
This may be. But paying to have something is usually better than paying not to have something. A simple comparison of dollars spent isn't the whole equation.
What's the minimum amount of health insurance that one has to carry without beingassessed a feetaxed? I assume more than your catastrophic insurance based on what you're saying but how much more? (Coverage-wise not premium-wise)
What you mean GM isn't making profits for the government?
Actually, I'd argue the opposite. The cost to the government in lost revenue - as people to sick to work stop paying taxes and force relatives to stop working (and paying taxes) to care for them - would be catastrophic.
- I think this assumes Doctors who supply preventative care are just waiting around for the next patient to walk through the door. Everytime my wife make an appointment she has to book 2 months out now.
- It also assumes the unisnured are going to pay for it. The poor will be paid for by the government.
- It also assumes the mandate will cause people who can afford insurance to purchase it. You are a contractor making 100 k a year. You can pay 1k in penalties (2.5 k in penalties in 2016) or pay 8k+ for heath insurance. Knowing with the new rules, you can just walk up to an insurance comapny and they have to take you and your pre-existing condition. Hmmm, which to choose...
Social Security being "bankrupt" is a misnomer and pure fear-mongering. The date people often describe as the date it becomes "bankrupt" is actually the date that SS is projected to take in 1c less than it pays out. That's not bankrupt by any definition, simply the date that incremental additional revenue will be required to fund the system. Of course, any changes to the benefit structure in the meantime will move that date, and it's so subjective to legislation that it's impossible to rely on any projection from year to year.
Shit, a bad flu season will move the date.
So let me get this straight... the American people elected their officials, were displeased with the results, and accordingly began electing different officials.
In the mean time, our justice system reviewed the law, determined it was a constitutional law and that the court's job was not to comment on the wisdom, but only the constitutionality, and upheld accordingly.
Why is everyone so up in arms? THIS IS EXACTLY HOW THE SYSTEM IS SUPPOSED TO WORK.
Your employer doesn't provide you with health insurance?
/ducking
Next thing you know they'll be making me pay social security tax when I'm not even retired.
Just curious, how should public transportation be funded? You can't ride it until it is built.I don't know. How? Riders? Communities? Cities? States? Regions? What does the federal government have to do with riding between UH and downtown Houston?
FEMA? do away with it?
I'm interested to see how the dissent explains that congress doesn't have the power to tax people for not having health insurance, but alas I have actual work to do.
Don't the polls show that the law is generally popular?
There is a law that says you cannot challenge taxes until after you have paid them (it's so the government can have some near-term assurance of revenue without having everything tied up in court forever). One argument was that this appeal was invalid because no one has paid the penalty/tax on the mandate yet. Court ruled that for the purposes of that act, the mandate was a penalty and not a tax. It's a bit of a threading the needle, because he upheld the constitutionality of the mandate because it was a tax, not a penalty, but when you read the opinion/reasoning it makes sense and there seems to be a fairly direct precedent.
I think most are gobsmacked that the vote didn't go 5-4 along party lines. I think Roberts got it right when he said "it's not our job to protect people from the consequences of their political choices".
I have seen people say - after the mandate was upheld as a tax - that not doing so would open the door for people to challenge taxes in general. I'm no lawyer, and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn last night, so I have no idea.
I agree that the politics of this thing has steamrollered most debate about the actual constitutionality of the elements of the bill. I think most pudnits, and many politicians, are gobsmacked that the Supreme Court appeared to do exactly that. You know...their job.
I would vote for any of the September dates since my wife's due date is August 13...
"The pennants currently located on the left field wall will be moved to another location inside the ballpark."
On display in the Wayback Zone, with Niekro's nail file, Nolan's pickle jar, a framed sepia 8x10 of a pitcher batting, Julio Gotay's ham sandwich and a player piano endlessly tinkling in the background.
If he hits 6'4" in the next year, let me know.
6-feet tall is exceptionally tall, gigantic really, for a 12-year old.
Thanks for the kind words. Proud papa comment:
The girl in the article raised her GPA over a full point to 3.54 in the semester she was with us. Her admitting university said that was the reason she was admitted despite a lackluster academic history before that.
The other had to choose between Johns Hopkins medical, the Air Force Academy (with two congressional nominations!), Univ. of Maryland Biology and was courted by Harvard (but declined), this after being out of school for over a year prior to the two years she has been with us. I won't say which she chose but regarding both girls, it was not overbearing parental micro-management that made this happen, rather, it was simply providing a safe, nurturing, loving place for them to heal and allow their existant strengths to flourish.
I say this because 1) I am proud of them but mostly 2) so that anyone that reads this will know that the abilities and talents that most of us have as parents can be used for to make a real difference in someone(s) life. So, I'll leave you all with a question:
If not you, then who?
I'm responding to moriartp's bringing the lineup card out to the umpire.
This guy Darvish is supposed to be a big deal? Why?
[/quote
Sorry...completely went over my head
First two seasons I meant to say.
I can't believe I am actually getting to watch an Astros game. I am most positively going to fall asleep and miss most of it, but at least I am watching some.
Just how big were Yvette Caceres' tits, anyway?
That's a profound question, bro.
I wouldn't be looking for fodder, but maybe someone who is blocked by the big club, wherever they are. Maybe something like the situation thatLowrieBagwell was in with the Red Sox - someone who can contribute soon for the Astros in at least a middling way.
I thought that it was a strike.
That AB by Altuve shows me that he is not quite there yet. He swung at some pitches that he couldn't hit and took a pitch that he could. He can get even better than he is at the plate.
He is extremely well poised for a 17 year old.
You're right. I don't understand how he gets so much speed on the pitch because he short-arms it. He must be very strong.
You beat me by a hair. We'll use your thread. Here are the lineups:

Fernando, but the confusion's understandable. Two overmatched corner outfielders. Named Martinez.
Lowrie swinging at everything
Gddam, just tuned in. Guess wainwright is positively unhittable.
Makes your ass look big.
Yay, it's ETA!
I don't understand a world where a gooney goofy buffoon like Bud Selig is the commissioner of MLB, but here I am.
Callis butchered that, based on my understanding. The Pirates have 2.9 mil for their first pick. They can't transfer all that other money from their 6.5 mil total to use towards Appel. Either Appel signs for something under 3.5ish or the Pirates better take a bunch of low-rent chumps with their next picks.
I love that, I love his projections, I love his tools, I love that he's become a buzz pick, and I love that Boras gets to go fuck himself. Love it!
I'm starting to feel bad for Appel, but not for Satan. This is getting ugly.
So what if anything does this say about Mier/Villar?
Can we at least replace the train with an old school rocket ship?
It's a story almost ripped from the headlines coming out of the Nuba Mountains. The movie was made many years ago by the Cheyene Production company (Willis production company) as their first venture.
Sarc Meter?
When did lying become a skill?
This FTC pitcher (don't ask me to spell his name) can really bring it for a starter.
Yeah, probably Co-Coaler and not Pesi. My bad.
Not that I know of. My wish is based on his athletic ability and the lack of production from those currently manning the position. How much worse could be be?
Careful what you say about him. I hear anything positive will get you suspended five games.
Not off the bat. The 1bman is the cutoff man on a throw to the plate, but not with just a runner on 1b.
Because he's being lazy.
Why the fuck is the number three hitter bunting 3-1 with runners on base?
Who's the everyday 1B in this scenario?
my scout friend who is very, very close to the Astros and who worked in that org for many years believes that there is no doubt whatsoever.
You get older. They stayed the same age.
Ask anyone who has ever gone back to school. It's very hard to do. That's why I always advise people to gut it out and finish while they've got the education momentum and inertia.
Hey, I think Hamels was an ass too, I just think a hefty suspension for saying what he said is too much. As I said before, if he hadn't popped off, this would've been handled on the field and be finished by now.
... a Cinco de Mayo promo?

I know, it's a bit nit-picky, Jose being Venezuelan and all, but Cinco de Mayo is indeed a co-opted Mexican celebration. In fact, in the good old USA, Cinco de Mayo is just another excuse to party (and drink). So yeah, maybe I should not be surprised after all. Carry on!
At least to me, it didn't look like it was that close to foul. Looked like he was admiring it.
F-in La Nina then?!?
I'm actually watching the game, but feeling far too lazy to actually write PBP currently.
That's not the list I saw. Must be something different then. If they're ranking greatest NFL players, then having Tebow or Newton on the list of the top 50 is absurd.
this list ranks Heisman winners based on what they've accomplished in the NFL.
I wish Houston had an NHL team.
finally the astros may have a pissant.
Just so we're clear, don't think Tebow is great as much as he's inspiring to watch. In a "little engine that could" sorta way. He's not supposed to win in the NFL with his skill set, so we've been told over and over again. And the playoff game with the Patriots sorta exposed that. So time will tell if Tebow becomes yet another Heisman ex who did some good things here and there and even had his "moments", but to say he's top ten in the list with Earl? No way.
I agree on Bo Jackson, but it was indeed too short to quantify. Tim Brown? Okay, I'll agree. Hershel Walker is missing from your list and had it not been for the USFL, he would have been one of the better Heisman NFLers around, IMHO.
I dunno, those guys were "good" NFL players but not necessarily great. Of course, neither is Tebow or even Cam at this point of their careers as well. Funny you have Flutie on this list. Tebow and Flutie compare well in terms of skill sets... lots of desire and determination, limited pure NFL quarterback skills.
The Heisman Throphy jinx in the NFL is pretty much a given. Most of the guys who are considered the best college player of the year usually flame out in the NFL because what you're asked to do in college and what you're asked to in the NFL are very different. Andre Ware will tell you so. So why would Tebow be on this list? I dunno, but he hasn't exactly flamed out either. Is he a better NFL player than 'Erl? No way. What I am surprised at is how they were able to find 10 good NFL Heisman winners to begin with.
Anyone also remember Cadet Don? Mr. Caboose?
Disagree 100%
Strasburg thinks so. He's got a Cy Young to win and stuff.
Strasburg intepreted this as he was tipping pitches.
I know they're supposed to drive in runs when that happens, but honest to God I'm just glad to see traffic. I guess my expectations were so low, that the absence of RBIs doesn't bug me nearly as much as it probably should.I have no expectations.
He got the moves like Ada(m Everett).
DirecTV installer is here, wohoo! Kind of disappointed it's not my ex-wife's baby daddy, though.
You know there's no game tonight, right?
I assumed it was Quit Fucking Trolling. Then again, everyone may already know that and I, once again, am missing something.
i was thinking more of something you'd find in a box in the basement of a nondescript LA pawnshop.
Hanson is looking sharp now.
Tough to double up Bourn.
14. 15 soon.
