The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Well, now, take down your fishin' pole and meet me at The Fishin' Hole,
We may not get a bite all day, but don't you rush away.

What a great place to rest your bones and mighty fine for skippin' stones,
You'll feel fresh as a lemonade, a-settin' in the shade.

Whether it's hot, whether it's cool, oh what a spot for whistlin' like a fool.

What a fine day to take a stroll and wander by The Fishin' Hole,
I can't think of a better way to pass the time o' day.

We'll have no need to call the roll when we get to The Fishin' Hole,
There'll be you, me, and Old Dog Trey, to doodle time away.

If we don't hook a perch or bass, we'll cool our toes in dewy grass,
Or else pull up a weed to chaw, and maybe set and jaw.

Hangin' around, takin' our ease, watchin' that hound a-scratchin' at his fleas.

Come on, take down your fishin' pole and meet me at The Fishin' Hole,
I can't think of a better way to pass the time o' day.

RIP

One would think that ignoring a poster would prevent you from having to read his/her posts.

What it was was Football.

My grandmother had an LP of Andy Griffith that had that on it plus his version of Carmen and Romeo & Juliet ("Romeo Romeo where forth art thou Romeo", he popped up and said "I'm right cheer") I bet I listened to it a hundred times.  Good stuff.  He was one of a kind.

One would think that one person's decision to ignore someone should have no affect on other people's posts.

If a person is free to post then there shouldn't be a problem quoting that post.  Feel free to take more draconian steps, it's your prerogative, but whining about other people interacting with someone whose presence is permitted seems pointless.

Supreme executive power is derived from a mandate of the people.  Do you see the violence inherent in the system?

Maybe we could make some sort of overriding ruling.  A sort of mandate for individuals...

If 25 of the 30 or so active posters we actually have on this site, I'm just saying the other five of you should be more sensitive to our whims, capricious though they may be.

Either way, your whining about my whining is no different than my actual whining.

My two favorite roles of his were actually dramatic (as opposed to comedic) - as the hick who made good and then got corrupted in A Face In The Crowd, and a made-for-TV film from back in the 80s, I think, where he played a deteriorating alcoholic ... can't remember the title, but it was pretty good.

Of his comedy stuff, I liked No Time For Sergeants the best, I guess.

Actually, Griffith was quite a supporter of the health care bill, even cutting a spot in favor of it for seniors.

A Face In The Crowd and No Time For Sargeants were both great roles, but I loved the cheesiness of was Pray For Wildcats, a made for TV movie from the 70s, with the great thespians Willaim Shatner, Robert Reed, and Marjoe Gortner about of group of business men on a motorcycle trip lead by a sadistic character played by Andy Griffith.
