That's a slurpee...the actual recipe for Sangria wine is in here:

When friends come for Saturday night
It's nice to make up some Sangria wine
It's organic and it comes from the vine
It's also legal and it gets you so high

Yeah I love that Sangria wine
Love to drink it with old friends of mine
Yeah I love to get drunk with old friends of mine
When we're drinkin' that old Sangria wine

Start with some wine
Get some apples and brandy and sugar just fine

Old friends always show up on time
That's why you add Sparkling Burgandy wine

I love old Sangria wine
When I drink it with old friends of mine
Yeah I love to drink with old friends of mine
When we get drunk on that Sangria wine

In Texas on a Saturday night
Everclear is added to the wine sometimes
Some nachos, burritos and tacos
Who knows how it usually goes, it goes

Yeah I love that Sangria wine
Just like I love old friends of mine
They tell the truth when they're mixed with the wine
That's why I blend in the lemons and limes

And I love that Sangria wine
Love to drink it with old friends of mine
Yeah I love to drink with friends of mine
When we get drunk on that Sangria wine

You are CORRECT Sir!

Talk Zone / Re: Re-realignment
« on: June 02, 2008, 10:19:56 am »
It's the same answer as always.  The people who spend their working lives thinking about these issues aren't near as smart as my cocktail napkin doodles.   Here's the reason

The owners did not want to play next year with two 15-team leagues because that would have required interleague games at all times instead of in clusters, as the teams played this year.
http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9D0DE5D6153FF935A25753C1A961958260&sec=&spon=&pagewanted=2

So the big issue is wether or not to cluster interleauge play? That vote was from 1997 when interleauge play was in its infancy. I think it may be here to stay?

As we all know the AL has only 14 teams while the NL has 16 this discrepencey occured when Bud moved the Brewer from the AL to the NL in hopes of expansion or contraction or maybe just cause he is an idiot?

This unbalance makes for divisions with unequal numbers: four 5 team divisions 2 in each in the NL and AL and one 4 team division in the AL and one 6 team division in the NL(which is currently home to the Astro)Enough with the history lesson, we need a plan to rebalance the leauges and divisions:

IMHO baseball should put the Brewer back in the AL but in the central division and then move the Royal out to the western division. Seems logical to me. Six 5 team divisions and 15 teams in each leauge, symmetry

So, you're telling me that Manny didn't spot the Boston fan in left during warm-ups, during in-between innings throwing, during the game.  It was on that play, that very singular moment that Manny did this? Okay, it's *STILL* a clownish move.  Hey, Manny doesn't mind being told so, why should you?

Hey Manny is a clown, whatever, I don't know when he spotted the fan anymore than you do. But he did not script or concieve of the play before it happend, it just happend.
And I guess you missed what Millege said "We were just having fun!".  Premeditated or not, they think it was about having fun just as perhaps Manny did.
The Chant and the Catch  two totally differnet things apples to oranges.

Talk Zone / Re: Speaking of nice catches...(non-Astros)
« on: May 15, 2008, 02:41:35 pm »
If it becomes a part of baseball, then call like it is: clownish behavor and let the chips fall where they may.  Manny wants to act like a clown, then wear a funny hat, heavy makeup and red round nose that beeps.  Leave the hair, it's clownish as clownish can be already.  Same goes for the Nat's bench deciding that chanting in the dugout is cool.  Clowns, each and every one of them.

This was different than the chant by the Nat, that was premeditated. This was  not, Manny saw a Boston fan in Baltimore at the exact spot he had just made a spectacular catch. He siezed the moment with a fan. Blasphemy!!!! It wasn't clownish it was just fun.

Talk Zone / Re: Speaking of nice catches...(non-Astros)

They are PLAYING baseball!!! It should be fun. He made the catch! He got the ball back in quick enough to double up the runner!! The player who messed up un the play was the boneheaded runner who was so far off the base that Manny had time to high five a fan and still get the ball in in time to get him.

From me:

Brown pitched 5 years with the Dodgers, going 58-32, with an ERA of 2.83, a WHIP of 1.10, and 3 seasons of more than 210 innings. If that's the worst free agent signing ever, you and Enrique Rojas of ESPN Deportes have a definition of "worst" that differs from mine.

Allright, I admit it I misrememberd him being worse than that with the Doger!

54
Talk Zone / Re: Hampton or Zito: Worst FA pitcher signing ever?
« on: April 29, 2008, 03:13:34 pm »
From wikipedia

"Following the 1998 season, Brown again became a free agent. He signed a lucrative contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers for 7 years/$105 million USD, becoming the first $100 million man in baseball. Many fans, both in San Diego and nationally, were taken aback by the immensity of the contract given to a player in his mid 30's (almost $40 million more than the Padres offer, the next highest offer he received), and also the choice of team, given Brown expressed a desire to play in a city closer to his Georgia home than San Diego during the season. Enrique Rojas of ESPN Deportes called the contract "one of the worst deals ever from a team's point of view" because Brown averaged only nine wins per season and was frequently injured during the seven years of the deal.[1]
His first season in Los Angeles, he posted an 18-9 record with 221 strikeouts and a 3.00 ERA. After leading the NL in ERA during an injury-plagued 2000 season, his performance began to dwindle as Brown was hampered by injuries and poor run support. In 2003, Brown rebounded, producing a respectable 14-9 record with 185 strikeouts and a 2.39 ERA, although as Bill Plaschke noted following the release of the Mitchell Report "(his numbers that year are) no longer believe(able)."[2]"

you do not have a clue. baseball is a game that generates numbers, but the game is not "about numbers."
And what pray tell should we do with numbers baseball generates?
Ignore them they are useless right?
They can be of no service at all, so anybody that refers to them must not have a clue about baseball.
We should all watch ever game and judge the talent for ourselves.

85
Talk Zone / Re: Done deal
« on: December 03, 2007, 02:02:22 pm »
Baseball is about winning.  Numbers contribute to the winning, but the numbers have context.  Hence the disagreement in the very basic foundation is evident.  If you have a foundation that "baseball is about numbers", then it's never going to amount to anything to have a discussion with you about "skills" or "approach" because those things mean absolutely nothing to you.  Numbers do not quantify "approach" or "skill" (Bat control, bunting, hitting behind a runner to move him from first to third, et. al.), but that then does not mean "approach" and "skill" are not a very relevant part of baseball.
"Number contribute to winning" thus not irrelivant!!
How would you have "skill" measured if not by numbers? as I stated before I understand that there is such a thing as a"good out" and  IMO a players "approach" to the game is relevant, i never said it wasn't. But baseball genertates numbers for a reason, so players can show evidence of the skills required to win, which I understand is the bottom line.

I'm sure JimR will tell me i am out of my leauge or Fuck off rookie but:
"too many outs in the top of the line up" is a bad thing! I know there are good outs and bad outs, but I also know that getting on base is NEVER bad it is allways good.
And baseball is about numbers so saying they are irrelivant is "naive and myopic"

A HOF'er should be a no brainer, some people are and some people are not.
If a discussion is needed, not a HOF'er.
Players like last year Jr. and Gwynn easy, no discussion needed!
With that said Blyleven is a cry'n shame, he should be in!

When he pitches he is pretty darn good.  Last year:BAA 207, WHIP 1.27, less than a hit an inning .75 per, 24 s.o. in 24 innings. The guy has only pitched a little over 100 innings total in the last 3 years, if you look at the glass 1/2 full it is a vetran with an arm that is rested. IMHO the cubs got a good deal on Wood for next year, of coarse they had to pay him and get next to nothing for the past 3 years to get it.

Not the most money to the client the most money in the agents pocket!!!
Without consideration for taxes, living expence, quality of life type issues of a client.
10% is 10% for some of the agents regaurdless of the clients best interest?
This aint "leave it to beaver" ,its baseball, the most isn't allways the best. Sometimes you have to move over the runner and sacrifice the average!

OK if you are the GM who do you want to come through the door representing a player on your team?

Not a bad "attaboy" to take into contract negotiations.

Carlton, Gooden, Johnson, and now Peavy the only guys with the picthers version of the triple crown in 40 years. Yeah, thats leverage. If only he had an agent like Boras to look out for his best interest, or a chinchilla ranch then he'd be in great shape.

106
I think Axlerod deserves some of the credit.
A player will ultimately make the choice of where to sign, but if an agent refuses to negotiate civily (ie. arod)with a team or fill his client with absurd offers from other teams that turn out to be the same he could have gotten with his original team (ie. stems cf'er).

Everett is a very interesting idea. As Noe pointed out the position in the line up can greatly effect what types of pitches a hitter will see. And you can only assume Everett would see many more quality pitches between Borne and Pence than he has seen between Ausmus and the pitcher. The art of moving over a runner and being patient while Borne is on base. Everett may be just the type of guy to get the job done?

So let me see if I have this straight, Agents and players can lie about who is interested in them and about the amount of money other teams are offering, but owners can not tell the truth about weather or not they are in the market for a player. All so a player can opt out of a 10 year 250 million dollar contact, because that just isn't enough money to keep his family in the style they have grown acustom to? NICE
