« on: April 30, 2008, 01:32:30 pm »
The summer months are allmost here so are summer vacations.

I figure a good summer vaction has, water, sun and fun. A personal favorite of mine is tubing the Frio and camping out.

I'm looking for some new ideas, anybody have experince with a can't miss summer vaction?

Be careful with the campfires.

Everyone should go to Yellowstone at least once in their life. I lived and worked there for several years and can tell you about lots of cool places that most tourists don't know about. Though based upon your criteria, there is one drawback -- lots of water, but you can't really swim there. You can fish the shit out of it though.

However, I would not recommend going there if you can't obey the rules, about campfires or anything else. There is a lot of dangerous shit in Yellowstone.

If you or anyone else here ever plans a trip to Yellowstone, let me know and I'll give you some good ideas.

How much trouble can you get in if you shoot any bears you see wearing neckties and stealing picanic baskets?

I don't know Marky-Bear.  Some asshat started a fire, despite the burn ban.  I think he's dealing with that.

That's OK, just don't violate the burn ban.

Several years ago, the wife and I drove around Montana for a week with no plans set in stone.  Had a guide take us fly fishing, drove through Glacier National Park, spent a day at Yellowstone, stayed a few nights at a resort hotel built around a hot spring (huge outdoor pool naturally maintained at about 90 degrees) and came across an amazing Nicklaus course in the middle of nowhere that we played for <$40.

Ha!  There it is!  We had no reservations... picked up stacks of fliers at the airport, rented a car and started driving.  This happened to be first place we picked to stop at.  Good memories, thanks for the find
