Your 2008 Astros are pretty much doneski at this point. A late July/early August surge got everyone’s hopes up for a 2005esque run. A quick revert back to bad baseball nipped that plan in the bud. Now we’re back to a Cublike “We’ll get ’em next year!”. Yee-fuckin-haw.

It was a pretty good night on the farm. Salem had the night off but four of the other five teams came away with wins.
Round Rock got a five run 8th to pull away from Nashville 9-4. Val Majewski had the big blow with a 3 run shot.
Corpus Christi got a solid start from Casey Hudspeth and Drew Sutton hit a homer as a part of a 3 for 4 night in front of the Astros big wigs in town.
“Either way, whether I’m here or in (Class AAA) Round Rock, there are the same things I need to work on, getting more consistent defensively is the big thing I need to work on right now,” Sutton said.
“It’s nice to play well when they’re here, but you try not to keep that in your mind. Honestly, I’m just happy to get a win because it hasn’t been the most fun to come to the park the past week or so because we haven’t been playing well.”

Tri Cities’ David Flores had a memorable All Star outing as he had the game winning double in the 9th plating fellow Valley Cat B. J. Shuck and another All Star for the win. Flores was the MVP and teammate Phillip Remmell was the MOP (Most Outstanding Pitcher).
“It’s unbelievable. Just to be in the game to start with was special and then playing here in front of a packed house made it even more special,” Flores said. “I was hoping to just make my plays and maybe get a knock or two. It worked out better than I could have expected.”

The Good Guys pooped out a series loss to the Brewers today, putting the magic closing record at 26-9 to finish at Coop’s prescribed 90 wins. The L gets hung on Wandy, who pitched sort-of-kind-of-OK, giving up 3 in five and a third innings of work.
This man would like to remind you that only two of those runs were earned.
