Apologies, just a very quick recap here

What can you say about Craig Biggio. He announces his (99.9% sure) retirement at the end of the season in the afternoon, then knocks a go-ahead grand salami a few hours later. Biggio hit a hanging slider from Rudy Seanez into the Crawford boxes in the sixth inning to break a 3-3 deadlock.Read More

ESPN recap: Here.

Nice series against the Pirates, guys. But this is what happens when you face a real major-league team. Mr. DuBose got it right:

Astros owner Drayton McLane said last week that the next few games would play a huge role in determining what approach the club takes into next week’s trade deadline.

On Monday, the Astros made quite a strong case to be sellers.

The action came in bunches, as the Good Guys blew their collective foot off with a shotgun came up just short with a furious late-inning rally to fall to 1-5 on the current roadie. Jason Jennings demonstrated that he does not want to be traded, giving up all 7 runs in just 5 innings, as his ERA ballooned to a robust 4.76, a number nearly as voluminous as his ample, Hildalgian can.Read More

When former Astros headcase Tim Redding popped up on the pitching probables for this series, I admit to feeling very much the same as others who feared The Sponge might mow down his ex-mates in epic fashion. Fortunately, those fears were not realized tonight as Timmah pitched well for the gNats but couldn’t overcome bombs by Lee and PENCE!!! as the Astros went on to win their first since the break 4-2.Read More

Middle inning disaster at Wrigley

Posted on July 15, 2007 by mihoba in Game Recaps

Cubs 9, Astros 3

W: Ted Lilly (9-3) | L: Roy Oswalt (8-6)

AP recap
Footer gives her take

After typing up a long, tirade filled recap yesterday evening and losing it to cyberspace, this is now the condensed version, using mainly quotes from the Astros camp.

Roy Oswalt breezed through the Cubs lineup for the first three innings on a windy day at Wrigley, and had one out in the 4th when he lost his command, the lead, and eventually the ballgame seemingly due to a terrible call by home plate umpire Larry Vanover on a strikeout ruled as a foul tip.
