Traditionally, what is considered a dramatic finish to a game is an offense induced walk off play. If it is a homerun, there is supposedly no other more fan craze inducing play, plus the players get to wait at home and pound the crap out of the teammate who hits said walk-off homerun. It’s a ritual often looked forward to by players and fans alike.

But what do you do when you win with a defensive play? What if said defensive play is a dramatic as can be, not often executed as well, double play?

Things started out well enough for Sparky, 1-2-3 and a run by his offense in the first to give him a small cushion. Then the hits came, followed by the runs. Roy struggled just about the entire outing, giving up 5 runs in 6 innings, never looking like the ace he needs to be. Despite a 3-run comeback to tie it, the ‘pen couldn’t hold on and the Astros dropped the opener of this 4-gamer 7-5.

Chris Sampson pitched 6 2/3 strong innings and Hunter Pence hit a grand slam as the Astros returned to their winning ways Tuesday night at MMP, defeating the Cubs 4-2.

Sampson set the tone with his first pitch.
