Devon Torrence, rated the best athlete in the system by Baseball America, is getting to Extended Spring Training sometime this week. He will finish classes at Ohio State and will then work with the Astros staff for a month prior to being assigned to one of the short season teams (most likely Greeneville). Saturday night, the Express lost to Omaha for the 9th straight time. According to David Clark, the problems began with Josh Miller leaving the ball up.
Minor game recaps“(Miller) started leaving the ball up a little bit and they came out swinging,” Clark said. “When you got a free-swinging club like those guys got over there, when you make mistakes they are going to put a charge on it.”

May is almost done so it is time to revisit how Lexington prospects are doing when stacked up against the rest of the 16 team South Atlantic League. Lexington has the leagues worst record at 15-34. They are 15.5 games in back of the North Division leader. The stats are through the games Sunday 5/25.

The Legends let Hagerstown walk away with an 11 inning win. Jordan Powell allowed the tying run in the 9th inning and then loaded the bases in the 11th before Fernando Abad came in to walk the first batter he faced for the 8-7 loss.
