RR Wins! Everyone Else? Well, They Didn’t.

Posted on July 3, 2008 by Duman in From the Bus Stop

Round Rock won last night 7-4 but the big news was who threw out the first pitch. Brad Dydalewicz, the 8th round pick of the Astros, hasn’t signed yet but is hoping to begin his professional career soon. His pitch was high and outside. I wonder if that matches his signing bonus demands?Read More

Posted on July 2, 2008 by Duman in From the Bus Stop

Round Rock rallied from down 2 – 0 to with one run in the 5th and five in the 6th for a 6-2 victory.  During the game, J. R. Towles was pulled from the line up after two at bats to allow him to get to Houston.  Towles’ call up was due to the concussion suffered by Quintero last night.

“I just wish myself good luck; I don’t want anyone to get hurt….I just came here to work on my swing and get on the right path,” Towles said. “This happened a lot faster than I expected.”

Yordany Ramirez is showing some improvement at the plate.  After hitting .192 in April and .217 in May, he hit .266 in June.  He has had multiple hit games in 3 of the last 6 and has hit homers in two of the last three.Read More

Weekend Update

Posted on June 30, 2008 by Duman in From the Bus Stop

Greeneville went 1-2 on the weekend. They are playing pretty decent ball for 8 innings of each game but they have one implosion inning and that does it. Case in point, Arcenio Leon’s lines from the weekend. Friday night, in the win over Danville, Leon pitched 2/3 of an inning in relief. He allowed 2 hits and 3 unearned runs. On Sunday, he came in and in the first inning of a 3 inning relief stint, he allowed 3 more unearned runs. Leon has allowed 10 runs on the year, only 1 has been earned. Greeneville has lost 9 of the first 13 games but 6 of those losses have been by two runs or less.Read More

Round Rock got 2 runs of rehabbing Eric Gagne but it wasn’t enough as Nashville beat Round Rock 8-5. Gagne’s rehab stint lasted only 2/3 of an inning where he threw 27 pitches. He threw a wild pitch and hit a batter.

“After having three surgeries in a year and a half, it’s more important just to be healthy right now,” the 240-pound right-hander said.

Right now, the DLS Astros aren’t very distinguished. But atleast they are not hanging around the bottom 10 either. They currently sport a 8-14 record and are tied for last place in the DSL San Pedro division. All stats as of 6/25/08
