Ray Sadler may his debut at Round Rock memorable Friday night with a homer in his first at bat and gunning down a runner at second to help Round Rock hold on to a 5-4 win.

“This kid is a good defensive player,” Express manager Dave Clark said. “He’s got a very good arm, very accurate.”

Brian Pellegrini hasn’t had much of a chance in pro ball. Injuries cut his 07 season short in Tri Cities and he had started the 08 year in extended spring. So when he got the call up to Lexington and got the start last night, he made the most of it. He went 2-4 with a 3 run homer. Sergio Severino put forth another solid start allowing 3 runs in 5 2/3 innings pitched. The run support from Pellegrini and Colin Delome came after Sergio had left the game. However, there was one more homer to be hit and it wasn’t by the Legends. Final score – 7-6 Hagerstown.Read More

Hope you brought your sunscreen. Round Rock, Corpus Christi and Lexington all played day games yesterday.

Round Rock:
The Express snapped their losing streak and left Salt Lake with some dignity as they swatted the Bee’s 12-5 in a daytime get away game. Every Express batter got a hit. Mark Saccamanno went a triple shy of the cycle, Edwin Maysonet went 4 for 4, and Q had 4 RBI off his 3 hits as the Express banged out 18 hits.

2005 Draft Mid Term Progress Report

We are less than a month away from the 2008 MLB Draft. So it is time to look back at the 2005 draft and get a peek at how successful that draft is looking. The players from the 2005 draft have 2 ½ seasons under their belts and while it is still early in their development, especially for the high school and college freshman picks, we wanted to get an idea of how they are coming along. Consider this a mid term progress report on how the players are developing. Remember progress report grades can still be brought up or down depending on how you do the rest of the grading term, which for drafts tends to be 5 years.Read More
