Trinidad In Control,Bogusevic Was Not, Legends Put The Pieces Together, Express Loses 6th In A Row

Posted on May 13, 2008 by Duman in From the Bus Stop

Lexington

Anthony Bello picked up his first win, Bryan Brown picked up his first hit, Russell Dixon went yard for the first time and Eric Taylor played great defense at first as the Legends put together a good win at home.

Here is how the local paper described Taylor’s exploits:

Defensive Player of the Game, though, was Legends 1B Eric Taylor. His big stretch to complete a 4-6-3 double play ended the sixth inning and saved a run. Another big stretch and a leaping snag of a line drive accounted for the first two outs in the seventh. In the eighth, he ranged to the hole for a ground ball then flipped to pitcher Reid Kelly for the first out.

Salem

Polin Trinidad wasn’t worried about the wind blowing out of Salem Memorial last night.

“To hit a home run, you have to hit the ball first,” Trinidad explained. “If you make a pitch in on the hands, it is very difficult to hit in the air.”

Trinidad went 7 innings only giving up 2 hits and one walk while striking out 4. He had 14 ground outs compared to just 3 air ball outs.

The Avs bats liked the wind blowing out. Koby Clemens doubled and homered, while Jimmy Van Ostrand hit his first homer of the season. The Avs shutout the Keys 7-0.

Nick Moresi was hit by a pitch in the first and left the game for x-rays on his arm.

Corpus Christi

Brian Bogusevic couldn’t find the strike zone as he walked five batters and Hooks hitters kept finding pine as they struck out 11 times. So even though they out hit the Missions 8-6 the final score was 4-0 in favor of the Missions.

“My control just got away from me,” Bogusevic said. “I was trying to pitch smart there to (Kazmar) with the pitcher coming up, and it kind of backfired and I lost the (strike) zone for a minute, and you can’t do that.”

Round Rock

After a weekend of close loses, the Express lost in a big way Monday night. The Bees batted around in the 6th on Chad Reineke (faced 4 batters, got one out), and Carlos Hines (4 hits before getting a batter out). Dave Clark saw something he didn’t like in the inning and was ejected from the game. The Express have now lost 6 in a row and 8 of their last 10.
