The Good & Bad Report – Lexington

Posted on May 25, 2008 by Duman in From the Bus Stop

May is almost done so it is time to revisit how Lexington prospects are doing when stacked up against the rest of the 16 team South Atlantic League. Lexington has the leagues worst record at 15-34. They are 15.5 games in back of the North Division leader. The stats are through the games Sunday 5/25.

The Good

The Hitters

The Legends as a team are tied for 3rd with 14 triples. They also have been caught stealing 12 times, good for the second lowest total in the league.

The Legends let Hagerstown walk away with an 11 inning win. Jordan Powell allowed the tying run in the 9th inning and then loaded the bases in the 11th before Fernando Abad came in to walk the first batter he faced for the 8-7 loss.

Wandy’s Rehab Start Solid, Cassel Continues Good Work, Salem & Lex Have Rough Nights, VSL Season Underway.

Posted on May 23, 2008 by Duman in From the Bus Stop

Corpus Christi had the big story for the second night in a row. Houston sent Wandy Rodriguez down to pitch a rehab start and he pitched well. He went 6 innings giving up one run on 4 hits. One of those hits was a solo homer. He walked one batter and didn’t strike out any. He threw 78 pitches during his outing. Chris Johnson continued his good work at the plate going 3 for 4 but his struggles in the field continued with his 17th error of the year.Read More

Fairchild’s Rough Return, Delome Two Homer Night, Salem’s Two Big Innings & Round Rock Falls Short

Posted on May 22, 2008 by Duman in From the Bus Stop

Some mornings, we go from AAA down. Other days I flip flop it and we go from Low A up. Today, we are going to jump around alittle because the biggest news comes out of Corpus Christi.

Corpus Christi

Tip Fairchild made it back to the mound last night. His arm was pain free but his ego took a beating. He only went one inning hitting two batters, allowed four hits and three walks in the process of giving up 8 earned runs.

“I just didn’t execute any pitches,” said Fairchild, who called it a pain-free outing. “I don’t think I executed one pitch the right way or how I’ve been working on it down in extended spring training.

“I don’t know if it was nerves or being a little too pumped up, but that’s not how I pitch. I’ve got to find myself and go over some things this week before my next start.”

Posted on May 21, 2008 by Duman in From the Bus Stop

Today, Brian McTaggert has his minor league notebook posted at the Chron. I will intersperse some of his nuggets in this recap.

Round Rock

The Express bounced back from being doubled up the night before by doubling up the Isotopes 8-4. Runelvys Hernandez had another strong outing and Abercrombie and Quintero both homered.

McTaggert reports lack of prospects in Round Rock.
