Bobcat Bite on The Old Las Vegas Highway in Santa Fe, NM and the Buckhorn Tavern in San Antonio, NM.

The Buckhorn is a good place to go if you ever wanna check out the VLA or the birds at Bosque del Apache.

Bobcat Bite is cash only, too - for those wondering.

FWIW, the leaked shirt and the logo used navy blue.

I'm interested to see if the Astros use multiple shades of orange throughout the entire uniform.

I heard we're getting another alien.

Maybe they'll bring Orbit back, but I heard he's working in Albuquerque.

...and Luke Scott's comments about Obama were made in America.

I get why Guillen's comments were wrong and I understand why people are protesting outside of the stadium. I just feel there is a slight "I don't give a shit" when it comes to talking trash about our own guy - whether it be Bush, Obama or whomever.

I get it, though, it's about marketing the team. In Miami, they're pretty focused on trying to get folks interested in baseball and what Guillen said hurts way more than it helps. The Marlins want fans to show up to purchase tickets and merchandise - not to protest or hang the new manager in effigy.

I guess my issue with this is that there isn't really a clear cut line on what is and what isn't acceptable. While I agree that Ozzie's remarks were out of line and dumb, were they any worse than Luke Scott's out of line and dumb comments regarding President Obama?

Saying bad stuff about our guy should be worse than saying bad stuff about their guy, right?

Ugh!  I'd rather move to the AL than have orange uniforms and especially white shoes.

Not 100% orange - just orange trim and maybe orange caps. I'd love for the Astros to go back to an updated version of their old color scheme.

If the choices were dress like an asshole or move to the American League, I'd be fine with the Astros wearing red c's on blue hats.

I'll be in Los Angeles, SD (maybe) Colorado and Milwaukee.

I'm super pumped about the last week in Milwaukee - I want to see the Astros crush the Brewers playoff hopes in person.

JP is a Coog, so I think he may stay.  Heard rumors to SMU, but why would you do that.  At any rate, there is always turnover on recruiting when head coach changes.  Coogs will be just fine.

Right. I was hoping Phillips would get the job because of his loyalty to the program. However, in the end, I'm confident that Levine is the best man for the job - and I say that only because I have a lot of faith in Mack Rhoades' ability as an AD.

I heard some scuttlebutt about Phillips being a HC candidate for FAU, but that was over a month ago and nothing has come to fruition. Phillips has shown that he can be a capable HC and I hope he gets his chance. ...maybe in a few years Levine will leave for greener pastures?

In the last two years the Coogs have lost their top recruits to disciplinary reasons and attitude issues - so, I'm pretty fired about about our programs ability to get the best effort out of the guys who sign on with us.

Plus, we're not too far off from being able to compete for recruits with our in-state rivals.

...and cue the mass defection.

Kingsbury and Coach Stewart are both gone. I would be surprised if Phillips stays.

I just hope we can keep our core group of freshman intact - when Briles left, we lost a couple of key guys (current players and recruits) who could have helped us.

Still, what an exciting year for us!

Okay.

Roger Lodge?  The "Blind Date" guy??

Yes.

I know - pretty ridiculous, huh?

He hosts a sports radio show in Los Angeles called "The Sports Lodge with Roger Lodge" - it's on the Angels flagship network and he spends 3 hours a day beating off to the Angels and Lakers. He refers to himself and other Angels fans as "Halo Honks." He's more of a homer than anyone on Houston radio - which isn't saying much. He's super goofy sometimes but he's pretty savvy in regards to the Angels.

I didn't listen today, but I imagine he was pretty giddy about the signings.

Do they not already have Morales and Trumbo?  WTF.

At less than 30 posts, I'm about to lose all of my credibility (if I ever had any) - but I listen to a lot of Roger Lodge and he believes that the Angels think Kendrys Morales will never return to form after his memorable regular season walk-off homer against... I forget who.

Trumbo is a nice player and will probably see time at "DH." (Not sure what a DH is.)

Also, it should be noted that the Angels are paying Vernon Wells $21M/per until the end of 2014. They've got Mike Trout, Torii Hunter and Bobby Abreu... I wonder if they're listening to offers for Peter Bourjos.

Seems like they have a logjam in the OF/DH.

I can't help but to think that this is a great deal for the Astros. In the back end of his deal they'll be paying him $25-$30M per? It ain't my money, but that can't be good.

It is a good a day when the new division rivals fuck themselves and the old division rivals feel like they've gotten fucked.

God bless other people's suffering!

This has been the shittiest month I've spent as an Astros fan. I'm beyond pissed off and beyond angry, but I've been following the Astros for so long - I wouldn't know what to do with myself if I quit. NL or AL, I'm still on board.

I've been lurking since AC (I still refer to Randy Johnson as "Sea Hag" and have called out Cubfan for "crying yard" on numerous occasions). I love this website and I think you guys do a superb job! All of you... even the clarks.

I'm deeply sorry to see so many of you go.

But if you gotta go, you gotta go! Bye!

Go Astros!

I go with the double-double and animal style the fries. In-N-Out makes a damn good chocolate shake, if that's your thing.

And I'll second the Fatburger recommendation. ...but I've had some bad experiences there, I think I keep forgetting to ask them to hold the relish.

I live about a block away from In-N-Out... it's great, but it's no Whataburger.

Living in southern California, I only root for the local teams if it makes a difference to the Astros... I'll root for the Dodgers if they're playing the Cubs or Cards. Other than that, fuck the Dodgers. To be fair, though, being in a city where the hometown team is doing well is always fun... I bet our friends in Dallas are having a good time right now. Fuck them, too.

I wonder if your friend would be a Pirates fan if he moved to Pittsburgh. Smells like he's on a bandwagon.

I have a few Cardfan friends who've never been to St. Louis... I keep telling them St. Louis is a shithole and if they'd just visit there, they'd rethink their allegiance. I have little respect for their "fandom."

But they're not as annoying as Tennessee Titan fans living in Houston.

did you sit in the bleachers?  cause the bleachers at dodger stadium are a very interesting way to see a game, for the reasons you described.  aside from that though, i've never seen dodger stadium like that, and i've seen about a dozen games there.

Yeah... I was sitting in the RF bleachers when the fights broke out. The other times I went to Dodger Stadium, I sat closer to the plate. I still got shit, but not as much as I did that particular night. I've never got as much shit anywhere than I've gotten at Dodger Stadium. Hell, maybe its me...

But, a lot of my friends refuse to go to Dodgers games... especially the ones with families. They say they don't consider it a family environment. With my experiences there, I can't say I disagree.

I live 15 minutes from Angels Stadium and I check out a game once a month. The people there are nice, but I don't necessarily feel like they're baseball fans. They're hardly ever on time and almost always leave early... regardless of the score. I always have a great time, though.

Los Angeles is a different animal all together. I feel a bit unsafe wearing my Astros gear... people were screaming at me and telling me what I can suck of theirs. They were pretty vile and disgusting... they were like Cardfan with tans. This was a much different experience than I have had at other opposing ballparks. Maybe it has something to do with All-U-Can-Eat Night. There were 3 fights in the stands and finally the cops just camped out in our section. Full disclosure, I didn't purchase those tickets myself, they were given to me. I'll probably go to a game in Los Angeles depending on how much work I have/ how late I can stay up.

But, I'm making my first trip to AT&T Park this weekend... I'll be there Sunday.

Does anyone have any suggestions on any good bars around the park?

C&K BBQ is really good. Also, there is the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame. Its not as cool as it sounds, but its something to do. It was right across the street from Old Busch Stadium, so I'm not sure where it is in relation to New Busch Stadium... maybe a block away.

I also went on a riverboat ride. You can board close to the Gateway Arch... there's a park or something in the area. Anyway, they kind of give you a background on the area and you get to learn a little history about the place, if you're into that.

You can also hit up the brewery. I didn't go, because I was on business, but my friend did and she had a good time.

Also, Card-fans are shitbags. Don't believe the hype. I wore an Andy Pettitte jersey (this was a few years ago) and almost got my ass kicked... I've been to eleven stadiums so far, they are the worst fans in baseball, imo. Complete douches.

I'll be at the Dodgers - Astros series, too.

I went through Stubhub and got some  $40 tickets that are in right field along the first base line. I bought these a few days before Manny got back, I imagine the tickets may have gone up seeing thats his first series back at home. But I've always been pretty happy with going through Stubhub because they let you pick out your seats. Good luck.
