The Astros will reveal the team's new uniforms, logos, color schemes and mascot for the 2013 season at a launch party at 5 p.m. Nov. 2 on the field at Minute Maid Park. Admission to the party is free, but it does require an entrance voucher, which are available at Astros.com.

Fans will be able to interact on the field with Astros personnel before the program begins at 6 p.m. CT with a series of video presentations. Food and beverages will be available. The players will then be introduced for the fashion show, at which point the club's new identity will be revealed.

I was talking to a friend Saturday evening, and he had been to Wednesday's game, and he said that there were 5 white bears down there as mascots. White, so that fans were kept guessing about the new color scheme, but apparently the new mascot is supposed to be a bear. A bear? I really hope this is a big misunderstanding. How could somebody be so tone-deaf as to pick a bear as the mascot (he says as he watches the stupid Cubs)?

My understanding was the costumes had nothing to do with the new mascot, but the people in the costumes were trying out to play the new mascot.

No word from Astros.com yet on whether or not Joe Niekro will be modeling one of the new jerseys on the 2nd.

Old NL news.  They're no longer rivals.
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

Bears.  Beets.  Battlestar Galactica.

I'd be ok with either Number Six or a Cylon Centurion.

I heard we're getting another alien.

Maybe they'll bring Orbit back, but I heard he's working in Albuquerque.
