The Good & Bad Report: Round Rock

Round Rock is sitting in 3rd in the PCL American South division at 54-65, 11 games out of the lead.

The Good:

The Hitters

Um… Well… Ummm. They haven’t struck out very much. Their 770 whiffs put them with the 4th fewest.

Mark Saccomanno has 126 hits. That ties him for 5th most. His 24 homers tie him for 5th as well. His number of total bases puts him tied for 3rd (231).

Yordany Ramirez is tied for 8th most stolen bases (17 in 25 attempts).

This has been a rough year for the Hooks. They are 15-30 in the second half, which puts them with the worst record in the 8 team Texas League.

The Good:

The Hitters

The Hooks have the 3rd most doubles (215) and triples (27). They have been caught stealing the 3rd fewest times (34).

Drew Sutton is second in runs scored (80) and third in hits (134). He is tied for the league lead in doubles (32). He is tied for 10th in triples (4). He is second in total bases (226) and is tied for 6th in most walks (52). His .393 OBP is tied for 8th and his .502 Slugging ties him for 10th. Those add up to the 7th best OPS in the league (.895). His batting average is 8th best (.324).

Chris Johnson’s .506 Slugging is still in 8th despite his call up to Round Rock. His .324 average is also still among the league leaders (5th).

Tommy Manzella is tied for 6th in triples (5) despite being called up to Round Rock last month.

Eli Iorg has 4 triples which is good to put him in a tie for 10th best.

Wlad Sutil has hit the ground running with 18 steals (20 attempts) since his call up. That puts him tied for 10th most in the league.

The Good & Bad Report: Lexington

The Legends have climbed out our the cellar to 18-27 in the second half. They are in 6th out of 8 teams in the Northern half of the Sally League.

The Good:

The Hitters

There is not much good at the plate going on for the Legends. Their highest rankings out of the 16 team South Atlantic League is a tie for 4th in triples (28) and 5th place in HR (87). They are also in the top third of teams in stolen bases (124). They are tied for the second fewest caught stealings (29).

Brian Pellegrini’s 20 home runs put him tied for 2nd in the league. He would be tied for the top spot in slugging but he doesn’t have enough at bats to qualify.

No Wins On The Farm

Round Rock had the night off and everyone else lost.

Corpus Christi had plenty of offense but the pitching was offensive as they surrendered 5 home runs in the 9-7 defeat.

“We hit the ball well and played good defense,” Hooks manager Luis Pujols said. “I’m happy with the way we went about our game. They hit five home runs and we only hit one? That’s the difference.”

Tri Cities continues to struggle but have shown signs of life over the last month. They are currently 19-27 and 6 games out of first in the NYPL Stedler Division.

The Good:

The Hitters:

Out of the 14 team league, the ValleyCats rank tied for 3rd in HR (29). They are in the middle of the pack in most other areas except those noted below in the bad.

J. B. Shuck leads the league in runs scored (39) and is tied for 6th most hits (50). His 4 triples tie him for 5th most. He has walked 24 times (7th most). His OBP of .393 is 8th.

Phil Disher leads the league in hits (58), RBI (39), total bases (104, and homers (10). He is tied for 5th most doubles and is tied for 10th in runs scored (27). His OBP of .400 is tied for 5th, his SLG (.598) is 2nd best, and his OPS is 3rd best (.998). His .333 average is good for 6th best in the league.Read More

The farm teams went 4-1 last night with Lexington having the night off.

Round Rock beat Portland to wrap up their road trip to the left coast. J. R. Towles homered and had an RBI single in the game.Read More
