Just How Close Are Johnson & Norris?

Posted on April 4, 2009 by Duman in From the Bus Stop

Ed Wade says Chris Johnson & Bud Norris are very close to joining the big club.

On Johnson:

“Johnson is the closest-to-the-big-leagues position player prospect we have,” general manager Ed Wade said. “We like (Edwin) Maysonet and (Tommy) Manzella, (Brian) Bogusevic and a couple of other guys. But really, the guy that has the greatest chance of having an impact on our club is Johnson.”

On Norris:

“Bud did a real nice job,” Wade said. “I told him it wasn’t easy for us (to send him to Round Rock).

“He put his best foot forward here in camp and did exactly what we asked him to do. In other circumstances, he’d be breaking camp with the big club.”

Lexington was rained out but that doesn’t mean we don’t have news from them. Greg Langbehn has been frustrated with the play of the Legends at times has found a silver lining in an otherwise dreary season. Here are some of his quotes from the Lexington paper today:

That was just one of those nights where everybody was going to get the ball and everybody was going to make an error. But … we’ve gotten better defensively, which is a big thing.”…Read More

Round Rock

The Express lost to the Redbirds 10-4 last night. Nieve wasn’t sharp giving up 3 runs off 9 hits but left the game leading 4-3. He was aided by some stellar defense to get out of a bases loaded no out jam in the sixth.Read More

Lex, RR Split Double Headers, Hooks Yet To Lose, Avs Pick Off A Win

Round Rock

Round Rock split a day night doubleheader Saturday. They lost the opener 4-3 and won the nightcap 16-8 thanks to a 9 run 7th. In game one, Jack Cassell surrendered 4 runs in the second inning and that was enough for the I-Cubs to hold on despite a rally by the Express in the ninth. The second game looked like it would be a repeat with the I-Cubs getting 4 runs in the first off Runelvys Hernandez. The Express rallied with a 9 run 7th to erase a 8 – 3 deficit.
