Greeneville Goes Back to Back in 9th, Salem & CC Shut Out, Stubby Stoked About Olympics

Posted on July 16, 2008 by Duman in From the Bus Stop

Only two of the Astros farm teams lost last night. Okay, only three were in action but it sounded better than only one won.

Greeneville bounced back from a 7 – 5 deficit in the 9th with a a three run comeback. Richardo Bonfonte hit a one out double and then with two outs he stole third. It was an unnecessary steal as 5’5″ Jose Altuve took the next pitch out of the park. With the game tied, Frank Almonte took the next pitch deep for the lead and his 3rd home run of the season. Nathaniel Pettus closed out the 9th for the save.Read More

Minor News Update

Posted on July 14, 2008 by Duman in From the Bus Stop

Well I have some catching up to do from last week. Since I am the writer, I get to choose where I begin and choose the red hot Greeneville Astros. The G’stros swept last place Burlington and then swept second place Bristol. Five of the six wins were by one run and two went to extra frames. As a result of their solid play, the G’stros have climbed into a tie for second after starting the week in the cellar of the Appy League west. Pitching has been the calling card of the resent upsurge. Their team ERA is now second in the league. They will face Elizabethon in a 3 game road set starting tonight. The Twins hold the league’s best record at 17 – 6. The Twins are 8-1 at home.Read More

Brad James Leaves Game Early, Brian Bogusevic Prepares to Patrol Outfield

Posted on July 8, 2008 by Duman in From the Bus Stop

Let’s start our trip around the farm in Salem where Katrina Waugh talks with the newest Salem outfielder, Brian Bogusevic.

What to expect to see of him:

One of the main goals of Bogusevic’s trip to Salem is to get back into everyday playing condition.

He said he will likely play a system of two games on, one game off, beginning with playing five-inning pairs, then seven and then nine.

“It’s not going to come right away, but it hopefully will come,” he said in a phone interview from Springdale, Ark., where the Hooks were playing.
