Not much to see by the Astros during this game. The Dodgers Kuroda stymied the Astros hitters, again. This time he got the win. Lone bright spots offensively for the Astros were David Newhan, 2 basehits and Carlos Lee who homered in the 9th off of Cory Wade.
One other spot to note is Newhan was on second, JR Towles was on first, so Cecil Cooper decided to go with Darin Erstad to get an RBI, but before Erstad has the chance to cause some damage, Newhan gets picked off at second. Next pitch or so, which most know is going to be a hit, Erstad hits the double. He and Towles end the inning stranded on the bases. That is Astros baseball this year.
The Dodgers scored 4 runs, one a homerun by Jeff Kent, off Hernandez. They only had 8 hits on the night, but it was enough to beat the Astros.
Dave Borkowski, Tim Brydak, and Chris Sampson did a good job in relief pitching 4 scoreless innings.
Maybe having Oscar Villarreal back in the minors will be good for him also, which is then good for the Astros.
Sophie and Abby Ausmus interviewed their Dad (Brad Ausmus) last night during the game. The girls and their dad were quite honest in their responses. When you don’t feel like going to Chili’s just take a trip to Honolulu, Hawaii.
