I'm going to be in Seattle next week. Ironically when the Astros are playing Seattle but in H-town.
Anything cool I should do there? I know about the Pikes Market and Pioneer Square. We're going to the San Juan Islands for a couple of days too.
For a quick trip we enjoyed riding the ferry over to Bainbridge Island. Only about a 25 minute ride, once you get dropped off you can walk to several restaurants and shops, we ate at a place at the marina, really good fish and chips and a solid selection of beers. Great view.
http://harbourpub.com/The ride back on the ferry provides a fantastic view of the Skyline and Mt Rainier. Speaking of, if you can get a window seat on the left side of the aircraft on the way up, you will get a really fantastic view of the Rainier, weather permitting. Same goes for the flight home, left side window.
We stayed at the Arctic Club, which is a historic building that is now run by Doubletree by Hilton. I loved it, one of the better hotel bars, especially considering it is a Doubletree.
http://thearcticclubseattle.com/dining-libations/polar-bar/We did the Market, it is worth going by to say you have been. I ate at Cutter's a few weeks ago when I was there for work, it was good, and has a great view of the water. A coworker raved about this place,
http://thepinkdoor.net/ but it was a 1.5 hour wait when we went by so we passed. There is an Irish pub right next too it, that I have been to several times now that I enjoyed too.
If you go to a game, I would suggest the Pyramid Brewery across the street from Safeco for pregame. They inexplicably close at 10PM, even on game nights so you can't go post game, that is why chuck and I ended up at the hotel bar that is next to the stadium.
We also went to the EMP museum next to the Space Needle and enjoyed it.
I loved crab up there, but their oysters are awful, I much prefer gulf coast oysters.
