Just askin' because I have not been there. I was wondering if there is much to do to keep a tourist busy for a couple of days. I understand from the book I read about Vern Law and the '60 Bucs that when the steel business was in high-gear men who wore a white dress shirt downtown would take back-up shirts because the shirt they left home in was filthy by mid-day. The city was, suppossedly, in perpetual overcast during those days.
i've been there in mid to late march. it was still cold (snowing) which i personally hate. i don't like the cold, but i went to see a hockey game.
i've also gone in late september. nice weather.
i know what you mean about thinking the city is covered in soot, but i liked it and found it to be clean. lots of rolling hills and green trees. i found some good food there. i also like yuengling beer so there was that.
if you do go, eat at primanti's. i love that place.
i have a friend that lives there and a couple that grew up there. if you want some personal recommendations, i can try and get some for you.
