I didn't think that was his fault. He got hung out to dry on a safety squeeze call and a misplaced bunt.

Castro finally blocks an 0-2 hook. If he can continue to do that, it will help Keuchel. Slapdickery in the field. Brain cramp by Altuve allows a third runner home. 3-2 now.

I don't think it was a squeeze.  It looked like a brain fart.

IMO, Mills should replace Schafer.  Two mental fuckups in one inning are too much.  He needs to make a point that some shit won't be tolerated.

Shit, now everyone is in on the mental fuckup game.

You're right about Schreefer but wrong about the play. When the pitcher is bunting with a runner on 3B and one out, the chances are he was not trying to bunt a runner to 2B with two outs.

JD keeps saying that Altuve is a really good fielder at 2B, but I'm not buying it yet. He's made a number of physical and mental blunders this season. Too many for me. I think that he has plus range, which is important, but I'm not going to check the geek fielding stats to see what they say. I know what my eyes say. Carlos grounds into the ole 4-6-3 to end the frame, and he's probably thinking that he fucked up not going to LA.

they are probably out celebrating the birth of our nation.

wasn't one of the perks/benefits of a six-man rotation suppose to stretch out the starters?  if yes, why pull dallas with only 5.2 innings pitched?

everytime i go i go to the carnegie museum.  love that place.  i've also seen a hockey game at mellon area, not sure if they've gotten rid of that yet, but they should.

I've been there a few times. It's nice in late spring and summer. I have some fond memories of drinking at an outdoor bar on the river with a friend that I lost in my second divorce. Winter time sucks there. It's dank.

I would say that about most places in the north.

I would say that about most places in the north.

I really don't like CJ but BB got a nice hit.

I'm trying the positive thought approach, as I did last night, but it didn't work. Bogusevic swipes 2B on Lincoln. Two outs to Altuve.

I've been a little down lately, so now that I've got that shitty work project out of the way and I can sit back a bit, I'm listening to Berlin. This has all the earmarks of a real-life metaphor for the Astros.

This may not end well. Might be time for another bracing dip in the pool of shit.

twice.  i helped close out 3 rivers and i've toured pnc.  it is a fun city and the fans are nice to opposing fans.

everytime i go i go to the carnegie museum.  love that place.  i've also seen a hockey game at mellon area, not sure if they've gotten rid of that yet, but they should.

Just askin' because I have not been there. I was wondering if there is much to do to keep a tourist busy for a couple of days. I understand from the book I read about Vern Law and the '60 Bucs that when the steel business was in high-gear men who wore a white dress shirt downtown would take back-up shirts because the shirt they left home in was filthy by mid-day. The city was, suppossedly, in perpetual overcast during those days.

Damnit. What's our runners on 2B and 3B with two outs batting average? I'll have to go to baseball-reference.com and check that out when I get back to my laptop.

i've been there in mid to late march.  it was still cold (snowing) which i personally hate.  i don't like the cold, but i went to see a hockey game.

i've also gone in late september.  nice weather.

i know what you mean about thinking the city is covered in soot, but i liked it and found it to be clean.  lots of rolling hills and green trees.  i found some good food there.  i also like yuengling beer so there was that.

if you do go, eat at primanti's.  i love that place.

i have a friend that lives there and a couple that grew up there.  if you want some personal recommendations, i can try and get some for you.

Pittsburgh is a fantastic city.  There's plenty for a visitor to do:  Carnegie Museum, Andy Warhol museum, Lewis and Clark museum just scratches the surface.  The Frank Lloyd Wright house Falling Water is magnificent.  And of course a sandwich from Primanti Bros.

It's also a beautiful city to just drive around.

So true. When we get hitting, like last night, our pitching flounders. When we get pitching, it seems that our hitting goes dark.

i was checking out the 25-man roster, Downs is listed as the 4th outfielder.  i found that rather odd.

They had to put someone there, but really Bixler, Moore and Downsie take turns being the fourth outfielder. It will be interesting to see what is done when Gonzalez comes back from his rehhab assignment.

my point was only that there are 3 "true" outfielders on the team right now.

I understand. But all I said was that they just had to put someone in the fourth OF spot is the only explanation for it, but it doesn't hurt that Bixler, Moore and Downsie can play RF. Who's the backup LF, especially if Carlos is dealt?

Nope. I'll lay you a fiver that Schreefer got pulled for that dumbass throw to 3B when he had no chance, which let Alvarez go to 2B.

finally got to it, all they speculated about was the heat.  so, trade to Miami sounds like it might be happening.

Dominguez: 22 yr old third baseman.  Excellent glove and potential power bat.

Rasmussen: 23 yr old lefty.  Was the #3 guy at UCLA behind Cole and Bauer.

This is what I always wondered about in the Dodger talks. For crying out loud, they're running Dee Gordon out there at shortstop, why aren't they trying to grab Lowrie?

I saw it. Schreefer should have thought about what he was doing when he was doing it. And I didn't care for what he said to the press after the game about the other matter, i.e., nonchalanting the play on the Jones ball that he stretched into a hustle double, which was totally preventable had Schreefer been hustling. He basically said that it was not a problem and was merely Millsie's interpretation of the play. He should have owned up to it all. I also don't like his attitude at the plate when the umpires ring him up on close pitches. STFU and sit down. That's what a young player should do. But he doesn't.

Perhaps Schafer should become a part-time resident of Oklahoma.  Branden  Barnes is ripping the cover off of the ball down there.
