Assuming Harrell isn't throwing a no-hitter, it would be really cool to have a ten run lead so that a Marlin can hit a home run and we can see that fucking thing go.

If y'all are outside of the blackout area (and can stand listening to the Fish announcers), the home broadcast of the HOU/FLA game is the free game of the day on MLB.TV.  LINK

A lot of empty seats for the first pitch in the new stadium.  Come on Marlins fans!  The stadium was supposed to fix everything!

Schreefer weeded out some close pitches in that AB.  Nice walk!

Schreefer with a SB and the scores on the single by Jed Lowrie.  Miami native JD Martinez GIDP (5-4-3) to clear the bags.  Carlos flied out to Giancarlo in right to end T1.

Middle 1: HOU 1, MIA 0

(and no, not doing PBP so feel free to do so if you're so inclined...).

Reyes gets a steal, but Castro with a good gun (just made Altuve reach a bit to the SS side of the bag).

Doesn't walk enough to hit leadoff. Can't really bunt well to hit no. 2. Not sure where else to put him.

He clearly belongs in the eight right now. If he can demonstrate either a walkability or buntability, then move him. But as long as Schreefer is in the lineup, Lowrie should hit second.

Yep. The catcher is supposed to back up that play, with the pitcher being the backup to the catcher.

At this level, there is no excuse whatsoever for leaving a base uncovered.  None whatsoever.

Attaboy Castro, don't cover 3B or anything, that would mean you'd have to fucking run 90 feet.

Yeah.  Maybe I was giving him the benefit of the doubt in his younger years, but it seems like his decision making behind the plate has taken a step backwards since the injuries.

I've never noticed he made bad decisions, but I don't see a real thinker back there either.  But that's Catching 101.  He better pull his head out of his ass.

In addition to forgetting his role in that play, it seems that he has regressed in blocking pitches in the dirt.  Also, you know, throwing the ball into centerfield for no reason when a runner is hung up between second and third.

He's never been very good at blocking pitches, IMO.  He throws OK, but he's not a great defensive catcher.

No shit. When CJ hit that I really thought it would go out: it was down where he likes it, he had good extension, and it looked like he got it right on the barrel. Instead, it's a warning track out.

Been at the Ranch all day.  Drinking whisky, smoking a cigar.  I love watching the Astros up here.

Nice. Astros, whisky, a good cigar, and a country sunset.

Marlins put a charge into one, but JD Martinez got it on the track.  And to think, Brownie says that the roof closed (i.e. tonight) plays a lot better for the hitters than it does with the roof open...  So much for getting Hanley Ramirez on my fantacrap team...

For the second time tonight in the Flyers-Pens game, a team scores within 10 seconds of having been scored upon.

5-5 in the third. Wow.

I remember when Buck was at RR. It was hilarious to watch his throws down to second after warming up the pitcher: they would drop about 2mm in the trip from home to second.

I love Malkin, that Crosby kid would be pretty good if he could take a hit. And the Flyers score! 6-5.

I'm on this perfect out-of-phase play with my two catchers: I rest one, and he goes off, so I switch them and the other guy goes off. I've been making a bunch of bad decisions lately. I'd probably be a lot better off letting some random number generator select my lineups.

What a horrible at bat by Lee.  13 straight balls, and you check swing at one in your eyes?
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Shit  An 0-2 meatball up in the zone.  I just don't see how he is going to be an effective pitcher with his current ability.

Me neither. I think that he''s so awful that the club should cut bait.

All of you necks loved him when noted genius Ed Wade was widely ridiculed for overpaying for this Mormon fuckwit. Now you want to 'cut bait.'

You Astros fans certainly are fickle.

I don't recall having an opinion on the guy before, but he has been injured between then and now.

He had Sanchez down 0-2 and threw 3 straight hittable pitches. That is just plain stupid.

I don't recall my sentiments when we signed him, so I must have had no strong feeling about it one way or the other. But even if I supported the signing back then, that was then and this is now. He's either damaged goods or he's done. Either way, we don't need him.

Cochedebajo de los Gatos.

I can't believe that I enjoyed those novels.  But I did.  They're fun.

Captain Corelli's Mandolin blows.  That was the first book I ever finished and promptly walked down the street and threw it in a dumpster.  Just an awful ending.
