"excellent transportation infrastructure"

Huh?

I wonder where they're going to build this thing.
I remember all the good times me 'n Miller enjoyed
Up and down the M1 in some luminous yo-yo toy
But the future has to change - and to change I've got to destroy
Oh look out Lennon here I come - land ahoy-hoy-hoy

There is some really nice land (hills, water, views) all along the 130 corredor.  I'd guess on the south end of it near the airport

So, uh, who's paying for the track?  I'm generally okay with public funding of sporting facilities (because of the positive local economic impact), but this thing's going to cost a fortune.  Texas Motor Speedway was $250MM to build...

The articles I saw said that no public money would be used, it would all be private. I am having a hard time believing this will ever happen but if it does it'll be fantastic.

Privately funded according to todays Statesman.  Wierdest thing about this is how out of the blue it came.  They've been working on it for four years?  I'm sure there was some heavy competition and a highly anticipated F1 announcement ceremony, but there wasn't a peep about it mentioned here in the paper or on local sports radio until the announcement came out yesterday.  I'm hearing it's going to be located somewhere around the new airport.  Also that it's not a 100% done deal just yet.

You may be overlooking the fact that more than half that number will be chicks exhibiting ungodly hotness.

You've been here long enough to understand there aint no chicks like Texas chicks.

While I would normally agree, there is something about F1 that really brings out the hot girls.  I was at Interlago in Sao Paulo to watch the Brazilian F1 qualification runs and it was literally wall to wall with fine women.  Increible!

Texas chicks is great chicks, but don't hold a candle to Brazil.

I'd be a lot more concerned with how they'd engineer stability in a multi-mile track on that gumbo ground.

To be fair, I've mostly only seen it while going 90.  The Star Ranch area seems to be pretty nice in terms of topography.

The newscasts had 0 new information last night.  They each just rehashed the press release and the quoted $200-300MM/year revenue quote.  Someone said they asked the Chamber of Commerce for a response and THEY didn't know anything about it either!

I'm stunned. You mean that politicians tried to sneak $25 million out of General Revenue and into private hands, and then lied about it and told everyone that the money would go to the communities who created infrastructure to support the event?

Inconceivable!
