Most unlikely run ever?
« on: September 11, 2008, 09:33:55 am »
I have to say this August - September run, after the loss of Carlos Lee, just has me speechless.  Consecutive names in the recap of last night's win: Moehler, Erstad, Abercrombie, and Newhan.  Who would have predicted that in March?

I don't know how this run will shape an honest assessment of the team for 2009, but it sure has been fun.

I don't know what the fuck you are talking about. The Astros are winding down into another miserable off season because Ed Wade put together (another) shitty team.

2004 was pretty special, 15-30 to start the season, 36-10 to end it. That offense was something to watch, once it got going in the later months.

P.S. Fuck the PRW.

I stopped watching when Wade decided the Astros were buyers instead of sellers.

I haven't watched a game since the Chron printed that tombstone in the paper 4 years ago.  Is Ricky Stone still on the team?

Ack. Well, in any case, both years were magical.

In 2004, it was Andy Pettitte going down and then the team took off.  In 2008, it's Carlos Lee, although I realize it started with him still healthy.

Not that 2008 is a run to the playoffs like 2004 was, but it has been similarly unlikely.

Also, I doubt that Carlos was going down the same was Andy was.
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

Even seen a horse go down? A Pettitte can't hold a cnadle to it.

Don't you mean 'cnadle'?
How can you ask me a question like that?  Do you ask The Beatles that??

What the hell is a run? You obviously don't read the chronicle or you'd know the Astros suck.
