Manny Ramirez to the Marlins?

MLB.com is reporting that Manny Ramirez might be traded to the Marlins for the stretch run.  The Red Sox would play Manny's salary.  I can't believe the Red Sox would let go of Manny, after they've coddled him and let him run his mouth for this long.

The deal reported this morning on ESPN radio is this:

Pittsburgh - Florida - BoSox in a three way (NTTAWWT)

Pittsburgh gets Jeremy Hermida (sp?)
Boston gets Jason Bay
Florida gets (Grabow from Pittsburgh and Manny from Boston).

Now, why in the world would Florida want two veterans in Grabow and Manny?  For yet another stretch run at the playoff and possibly run through the NLDS and possibly NLCS and possibly World Series and possibly win it all yet again?  Yes.  Very much so.

And then they'll fire sale in the offseason and start all over again.  It is the Florida Marlin way!

Marlins are saying there's no deal done.  Doesn't mean there won't be one.  Everyone seems to be saying that Manny's going to be Manny somewhere other than Boston, but the "somewhere" is TBNL.

Not the first time Manny's been involved in trade rumors.  Will he continue to fake injuries and pull himself out of games if they don't trade him?  God, what an idiot.  I'm so glad the Astros don't have him.

Right.  The Pirates got all 4 for Bay.  The Dodgers only lost LaRoche and the low-A pitcher.

Bay's a FA after the 09 season.  They gave up ~1 1/2 years of Bay for 4 inexperienced players.

The Red Sox gave up Manny and 2 inexperienced players for Bay *and money for Manny's salary.

The Dodgers gave up 2 inexperienced players for ~1/2 a season of Manny.

*Because Budgirl is so damn picky.

Yea, it might turn out good, but if I am giving away a somewhat high level guy, which Bay is imo, I would at least like a higher upside to go with my uncertainty.  Both Moss and LaRoche could be solid, but they seem like guys whose development stalled a bit as they reached the higher levels.

Just a couple of years ago the Pirates pitching was actually quite good. It's gone south while the offense has come together. Young teams are very unpredictable.

It is a chicken-egg thing.  It is not hard to argue that they have no committment to ever build and maintain a good team and the fans respond in kind.  Shit, most teams keep the good guys to build around them, not dump them for a bunch of question marks.  Is McLouth next?

Was the new stadium in Pittsburgh built with the intention to have the player's family be the only ones to show up?
