Milton Bradley available -- anyone interested?
« on: June 21, 2007, 03:07:34 pm »
Oakland just designated him for assignment.

Too bad he can't pitch the 7th inning.
Boom!

Not in the slightest.
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

Is he any more abrasive than Carl Everett?

Who cares about abraisive?  He can't stay on the field.

Can we hire him to hit Angel Hernandez with a chair?

Many believe that it's Drayton that wouldn't go for Bradley due to personality issues, so apparently he cares.

It's ok in this case, the A's thought he was too good.  To be fair to the rest of the league they sent him to AAA.
Crazy Joe McCluskey was fucking nuts.  It's why they called him Crazy Joe.

I'll take him.  He hits lefties at a nice clip and would make a nice platoon mate for Scott in RF.

I'd rather have him as the 5th OFer than Burke.

Bradley was traded to the Royals, but before the ink was dry he had another injury. Oblique. Deal voided.

If I knew I was about to get traded to the Royals, I think I'd try to injure my oblique as well.

No!  Clemens?

I enjoyed the FLASHBACK during the Astros/Rangers game last night where they showed a mini Sammy Sosa hitting a HR off a mini Roger Clemens in 1989.

Clemens is a juicer.  Don't believe it?  Try paying attention for a change.  Follow his career, not just the weight gain.  You can see where his ego kicked in high gear and said "can't play anymore, huh?  not worth the risk, eh?  I'll show THEM!"

I hope he gets caught.  He won't.  But I hope he does.

Combo that with playing for the "annointed" franchise, and you have to hink he'll skate for life.  Maybe we could get lucky and he manages to get Lupica or some other "LISTEN TO ME, I'M RELEVANT!" pinwheel with a keyboard sideways with him.  It would be fun to watch him squirm..

This did he or didn't he thing will never die. While the focus is on Bonds, everyone is in the view. Not just the guys who went through a rapid physical change, who were already good. Or had slumped and then regained their youth in their mid 30s. Or the guys with Charles Atlas torsos on Betty Grable legs. How can one look at Ken Griffey Jr or Kenny Rogers and not wonder. John Smoltz? Julio Franco? Jim Edmonds? Albert Pooholes? Alex Rdoriguez? That relief pitcher with the Diamondback.. Grimsley...

What about all the shitty players who took shit thinking it would make them better. If logic prevails then one must realize there were lots of them. Marginal players to the top names in the game. They all took them. No one is that isolated. Guys knew what was going on. In an implicit way they all took them. Everyone. In that manner, they're all guilty.

I need to let it go. It's still hard as shit to hit a baseball. It still hard as shit to thow one past the guys that can.
Everyone's talking, few of them know
The rest are pretending, they put on a show
And if there's a message I guess this is it
Truth isn't easy, the easy part's shit

Back to the Milton Bradley stuff. He is nothing but Trouble. He would fit into the team chemistry like a Barrel of Monkeys. If there is one sure way to sink the astros Battleship, signing this Ants in the Pants would do it. Now, it appears he need an Operation. What a Twister that is. Hey Milton, this is not Candyland, this is The Game of Life. One could reason that he is just after Easy Money like a bunch of Hungry Hungry Hippos. So please astros, do not ink this Buckaroo to a contract, not good Stratego. More like a Mouse Trap.

Forgive me oh great TZ, I couldn't help myself.

I'll add to it.  My guess was that he realized he needed to be known for having this obscene work-out regimen so that if ever questioned, everyone would jump up and down and say "look!  he works out 22 hours a day!"

If he's actually clean, I'll eat my fucking hat online, at a specified pre-set time, for all to view.

Bradley to the Padres:

Quote
Just over a week after trading for catcher Michael Barrett to boost their offense, the San Diego Padres appear on the verge of another acquisition to bolster an offense that ranks last in the National League in batting average.
A baseball source on Thursday said the Padres have agreed in to a deal in principal that would send a Minor League pitcher to the Oakland A's for veteran outfielder Milton Bradley.

http://sandiego.padres.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20070629&content_id=2055636&vkey=news_sd&fext=.jsp&c_id=sd

Also, Dave Del Grande of InsideBayArea thinks he knows why the A's cut Milton:

Quote
"The A's basically cut an extremely talented black outfielder because they have a dime-a-dozen white guys who complain less about being a backup...This was a matter of Bradley being ... well, black."

Beane has his own opinions of Del Grande:

Quote
Let me state first of all that I have never met Dave Del Grande, and as my public relations people inform me, he hasn't been out to cover a game in years. He formed his opinions expressed in Monday's column without talking to me, our players or manager, as is common practice by other responsible and well-respected columnists in the Bay Area.

...

Dave's comments were beyond offensive and, of course, unsubstantiated and without a merit of truth, and they have no room in a newspaper that supposedly prides itself on journalistic integrity and serving the community.
