Rumors of the Rockies manager

Rockies owner Dick Monfort, in an exclusive interview with The Denver Post, (despite the rumors and fans grumbling) said there have been no discussions about replacing Manager Clint Hurdle.

“To say he would be (fired after this homestand) would be inaccurate. If you make the change, what is going to be better? And we are not going to make change for change’s sake,” Monfort said Monday in a phone interview. “If I felt it was going to make the difference in winning more games, we would do something. But I just don’t think that’s the case right now.”  Link

Cuban “apologizes”

He blogs

…

It’s a dirty secret that all arenas need to do a better job of protection for visiting team fans, particularly during the playoffs.

So at this point I would like to apologize to you and your mom KMart for my comment. I should have not said anything and I was wrong. Hopefully you will accept the apology and we can move on.

When the series comes back to Dallas, your family, and the family of other Nuggets players are welcome to stay in my suite, with my family. Its amazing how tempers mellow when real people talk to each other and realize that its still just a game. Link

He blames the arena, the playoffs, “tempers” generally, and at one point reporters for accidently ruining Mothers’ Day.  And then uses his money to buy his way out of being a schmuck.  His advice about being “mellow” and how “real people talk” is in the running for the stupidest thing I’ll read this year.  And there is some stiff competition.
