Manager and GM explain their problems, Roy and Lance on performance enhanced cheaters

Posted on May 8, 2009 by pravata in News You Can Use

“When do you just sacrifice the game and let them just go?” Cooper said.

“I don’t think you just leave a guy out there to die like that. That’s not the way I do things. I thought we had a chance to hold the game there, and we actually did.” Link

But you didn’t think Russ Ortiz had a chance to hold the game there, did you?

Wade on the injuries
“We’ve got a veteran club,” Wade said. “We’ve got some older guys on our team. We have to expect these types of [injuries] to occur with greater regularity, because we have an older club.”

“Every team goes through stuff like this,” Wade said. “There seems to be an awful lot of guys going down with a variety of injuries throughout baseball. You wish it wasn’t you, but the reality is, it is us.” Link

Well, if wishing wont solve the problem I have no idea what will.

The Ramirez Suspension
Footer describes Roy’s “answer” to the question of Manny Ramirez’s suspension

“No matter what I say, it’s not going to make a difference.” As he said the words, however, he was clearly agitated. Perhaps to stop himself from saying anything else, he threw a baseball into the glove on his left hand, over and over, with increasing force.

Reminded of the homerun Ramirez hit two weeks ago — He simply continued passing the ball from his right hand into his glove, with enough force to make the same popping sound one hears after one of his 97-mph fastballs hits the catcher’s glove.

Berkman, who else could this describe?
Berkman began. “But when people make the game look as easy as some guys do, it doesn’t surprise me to learn that they’re having a little bit of help. It’s not an easy game. It’s tough. When you’re basically that dominant, I always sit there and go, ‘My goodness. Either this guy’s got head and shoulders more athletic and God-given talent than the rest of us, or there’s some help there.’

“I’m not saying it’s not possible that guys are just that talented, because I think some guys are. But it definitely raises a question in my mind.” Link
