Astros physician Dr. Jim Muntz examined Hampton on Monday evening and again on Tuesday morning. The veteran lefthander ultimately didn’t need to undergo a procedure to correct his heartbeat with the application of electrical current, which had initially been planned.
“Mike Hampton got back there soon enough yesterday to undergo an echo cardiogram last night and just did some regular treadmill work this morning,” general manager Ed Wade said. “And they could not elicit the irregular heartbeat. His rhythm had returned to a regular rhythm….we expect him to be on a flight back here this afternoon and back in the workouts tomorrow.” Link
Tejada reports to Camp
“I just gave him a hug,” McLane said. “I had seen him a week ago, and he and I had a long talk; he explained the entire issue with me. He had his agent and his attorney, and we talked through the entire process. I told him that he is part of our team, not only as a player but as a leader, and to keep his chin up and keep going.”
McLane said. “He’s one of the most thoughtful, kind and responsible human beings. He’s very low key, but he has that magnetic personality. He radiates when it’s time.” Link
Carlos Lee Doesn’t
