The Astros are trying to sign David Newhan to a minor-league contract by early next week. They want to add a veteran infielder who can play shortstop.
“He’s looking for the best opportunity to get playing time,” Wade said. “He’s got great makeup and you never know what could take place in spring training.”
But if that doesn’t work,
“Otherwise, we’re not talking to anybody else. If things fall in our lap we have to think about (it)… Wade said. “In the existing player payroll budget, there is no more to cover anything of significance.” Link
