His hometown newspaper does a story on Bud and his chances of making the jump to the Bigs.
On his AFL performance:
“Team ERAs were around five or six, so a lot of (pitchers) went down there and did not succeed,” Norris said. “But the guys that did go down there and succeed were obviously, I feel, a lot more prepared for the next level.”
On his arsenal:
“For him, it’s all about command,” Corpus Christi Hooks pitching coach Stan Boroski said. “I don’t see him needing an extra pitch. His fastball, change-up and slurve – all three are major league pitches. It’s all about command and consistency, and once he’s able to get a hold of that the sky is the limit.”
Does he prefer starting or relieving? He brings the cheese.
“It doesn’t matter to me. Getting to the big leagues first is the goal,” Norris said. “Obviously you want to help the Astros win. I’ve been starting the last three or four years so I understand that role a lot better, but relieving is a different mentality that you’ve got to learn. But I’ll do whatever the team really wants me to do to help the team, to be honest. It sounds cheesy, but it’s true.”
