AFL
Drew Sutton continues to rake. He is leading the league with his average (.529), runs scored (17), total bases (T-36), walks (13), On Base Percentage (.633) and On Base Plus Slugging (1.691). Sutton has made 5 errors in the field.
Brian Bogusevic is healthy and playing well. He has now played in 6 games (13 AB) and is hitting .385. He has no extra base hits but has only struck out once. He has played no error baseball in the field. He also made an appearance in the AFL showcase game as the DH. He went 1 for 4.
Chris Johnson continues his solid showing in the AFL. In 10 games (42 AB) he is carrying a .310 average with 4 doubles.
Mark Ori appeared in just one game this week. He raised his average to .176 with an 1 for 4 performance. He also got his first extra base hit of the season, a double.
Bud Norris is the pitching prospect catching the most attention. He was tabbed to play in the AFL showcase game. He went one inning and allowed only one hit while striking out one. He picked the one runner he allowed to reach off first. In the regular games, he continues to struggle with his control as he has walked 5 in 6 1/3 innings pitched. He has only allowed 2 runs to cross for a 2.84 ERA.
Sergio Perez is dominating right handed hitters. In 7 1/3 innings against righties, he has allowed only 3 hits, 1 walk and 1 earned run. They are hitting just .130 off Sergio. Lefties is another matter. They are killing him in limited action. In 1 2/3 innings facing lefties, they are hitting .615 off of him. Lefties have 8 hits, 3 walks and 3 earned runs off of him. Combined he sports a 4.00 ERA through 9 IP.
Brad James improved from last week but still isn’t super sharp. He pitched in 2 innings giving up a run on 2 hits this week. This brought his ERA down to 12.60. On the bright side, he has only walked one batter in the 5 innings pitched.
Chris Blazek still hasn’t pitched since the 9th.
HWL
Jason Castro is in the league top 5 in runs, OBP, Average, and OPS. He has stretched his hitting streak to 8 games. After bragging on his plate discipline, he K’d 4 times in 8 AB this week and took no walks.
Jordan Parraz is starting to put wood on the ball. He went 3 for 6 this week in the HWL with a walk and only one strike out. He also stole his first base of the season. His hot week brought him up to .188 on the HWL season.
Chris Hicks had only one outing this week and it was a rough one (2/3 IP, 2 hits, 2 ER).
