The Astros are considering moving Friday’s opener from a 7:05 p.m. CT start time to 1:05 p.m.
“The Houston Astros are continuing to monitor the projections and path of Hurricane Ike and are in close contact with the Office of Emergency Management,” said club president of business operations Pam Gardner, in a statement. “…
“There will be a decision made [Thursday] with regards to Friday’s game after continued consultation with the Office of Emergency Management. The safety and well-being of our fans and both teams involved is always our primary concern.” Link

Expect tropical storm-force winds to reach the upper Texas coast around midday on Friday, and for them to last about 24 hours. Hurricane force winds should then reach the coast before midnight, and last about 12 hours. Areas inland, such as downtown Houston, should see these winds a few hours later than the coast.Link
But maybe she gets her news from this guy,
Bingo Cosby, owner of a surf shop in Surfside Beach, said Wednesday that he planned to ride out the blow. “I’m going to go upstairs above my shop with my two guns and protect my property,” he said.
“Besides, the storm isn’t coming here,” he said confidently. “I went out on the jetty last night and prayed that it would just turn around.” Link
