Hocus Pocus, Abracadabra

Astros 5, Brewers 2
W: Brian Moehler, L: Ben Sheets

Astros Recap
Yahoo Recap
Box Score

Thanks to the abundance of runners left on base by Milwaukee early in the game, Brian Moehler was able to last 5.1 innings to get the win, while Ben Sheets has one bad inning where the Astros didn’t leave many men on base.

After the first two innings I did not think the Astros were going to have a win. Props to Magician Brian Moehler. He only gave up 2 runs in 5.1 innings of work. Magician’s Assistant Gabe Kaplan left 4 in scoring postion to end two innings. The Astros as a team only left 3 in scoring position on the night.

The Astros bullpen didn’t use any magic tricks though to finish the game. Chris Sampson, Geoff Geary, LaTroy Hawkins, and Jose Valverde came at the Brewers using only good pitching. They gave up a total of one hit with four strikeouts in 3.2 innings.

Ty Wiggington and Lance Berkman were the only starting position players (with the exception of Moehler) who didn’t get a hit. Hits were scattered throughtout all the others.

Olympic Tidbits:

A Brit passed up an American in the 400m for gold.

Congrats to Shawn Johnson and Nastia Luikin for winning gold and silver in the balance beam. Excellent job ladies. No boobs needed to win.

Misty May-Treaner and Kerri Walsh are going to be defending their 2004 Gold Medal victory in the next day or so. Hopefully Todd Rogers and Phil Dalhausser win the gold also after advancing from their semifinal match against China.

Go USA!!!
