RR, CC, Lex & Tri All Win. Greeneville’s Error Prone Ways Continue

Posted on August 15, 2008 by Duman in From the Bus Stop

Round Rock got a complete game from Josh Miller in their 3-0 shut out of Memphis.

Corpus Christi was resourceful, scoring on walks, infield singles and a throwing error to build a 8-1 victory.

Salem had their game at Wilmington suspended in the 3rd inning last night. It will be completed tonight with the Avs ahead 2-0.

Lexington ended their losing streak by winning 5-4 in extra innings. Craig Corrado scored on a wild pitch in the 10th for the winning run.

Pitching was the story in Tri Cities. Anthony Noguera gave up one run on five hits in six innings of solid work.

“I had more command of my pitches,” Noguera said. “I’ve been working hard on my mechanics. I kept my fastball down and the curve was working.”

Chris Hicks came in and “exhibited serious heat with his dancing fastball”. Kirkland Rivers got the save by striking out the side to end the game.

“He (Rivers) is as good as we’ve got coming out of the bullpen right now,” Rancont said. “He’s getting better and better with each outing.”

David Flores was added to the NYPL All Star Team as an injury replacement for ValleyCat, T. J. Steele

Greeneville is simply playing bad baseball. This is different from being a bad team. They are pretty good team playing badly. They are not fielding and are not hitting. Their pitching, which was their strength at the start of the year has dropped off. Last night, they lost 6-3 to Pulaski. Greeneville third baseman Ebert Rosario committed four errors (1 throw and 3 fielding). One of the bright spots of the night was the outfield arms. Renzo Tello gunned down a runner at home in the first from medium right field and Jay Austin made a very good throw that was bobbled by the catcher or else another run would have been saved. The final last night was 6-3 Pulaski.
