Yes, it’s the Giants. Yes the Giants are 20 games under .500 and yes, it was at home but DAMN! Back-to-back 4-game sweeps is something to be just a little bit excited about. And I honestly don’t mean “WOW! Look out Wild Card!!!” As an Astros fan, I love to see this team win and they’ve been doing that a lot lately, despite being bitten in the ass by injuries to key players.

I missed most of this game due to work, unfortunately, so this recap will not be very descriptive. After Moehler gave up 2 in the 1st and 1 in the 3rd, good fortune struck the Boys again this series, this time in the 2nd with a wild pitch that scored Gunther after his GR double. Then the offense scratched out 2 more in the 3rd to tie it on Twinkie’s timely double and Ty’s sac fly. Moehler gave up a solo dinger in the 6th to Fred Lewis that put the Gints up by 1 then left after giving up a double to Ishikawa.

After Moehler’s exit, the bullpen locked things down for 3+. This gave the O time to mount the comeback. In the 7th, Erstad singled in Newhan from 3rd to tie it. Then in the 8th, El Vendo comes through with a “how dare you turn me around” laser beam to the Crawfords with Miggy on 1st to go up by 2. Next, Blum doubled, then scored on Q’s single to pad the lead at 3. Valverde sealed the deal unscathed.

16 of 20. It looks like the May spring is back in the step of the team through this streak, the longest in almost 2 years. Feasting on bad teams is what good teams should do. Arizona, Milwaukee and the Mess will show if that spring has legs.
