(Footer writes) Cooper doesn’t read much news coverage of the Astros and he doesn’t pour over the game notes, but he does peruse the statistics packets religiously and for the most part sticks to what the numbers tell him.

When it comes to lefty-righty matchups, Cooper follows those rules. “That’s what we’re going to do from here on out,” he said, (Wigginton/Erstad platoon) which explains the all-right-handed lineup he used against lefty Barry Zito on Wednesday.
