BS and Gotcha! Games

Posted on July 29, 2008 by pravata in News You Can Use

Ortiz “I placed calls to several scouts, and the rumor is that the Red Sox have talked to the Astros, perhaps about Miguel Tejada.” therefore, “According to a person familiar with the talks, the Red Sox would like Tejada…” and Justice “The Red Sox have slight interest in Tejada. They’ve got a scout tracking the Astros this week,…”

(Check today’s Chron. I’m not in the mood to point at dog crap today.)

Nick Cafardo Boston Globe
According to team and league sources the answer again is “not interested.” The Red Sox have no intention of taking on any of Tejada’s personal baggage (Mitchell Report and feds investigation).

The Sox are still trying to acquire a relief pitcher and if they had any interest in an Astro in would be for 41-year-old righty reliever Doug Brocail, who has held righties to a .189 average.

“…according to a major league source close to the situation, that rumor “couldn’t be more false.”” Link

 Gotcha
Runelvys Hernandez was caught a bit off guard Monday when he was optioned back to Round Rock …(perfect opportunity for Ortiz to jump in and act all concerned.  Did he have his recorder on?)

“It’s not fair,” he said. “They said they were going to give me opportunity. They don’t show they gave me opportunity. I pitched good the last outing, you know.

“It’s fine. You know that’s hard. That’s how hard it is sometimes in baseball. But I tried to do my job.”

Attention, all fringe Astros, DO NOT TALK TO JOSE DE JESUS ORTIZ! He is not your friend.
