The Good & Bad Report: Round Rock

Posted on July 6, 2008 by Duman in From the Bus Stop

Let’s take a peek at where Round Rock stands in relation to their peers in the PCL.

The Good:
The Hitters

The only good to report is the Express don’t whiff very much. They have only struck out 566 times which ties them for the fewest in the league.

Mark Saccomanno ranks in a tie for 7th in runs scored (56). He is tied for 6th in hits (99), and doubles (24). His 19 homers places him in 3rd. He has 64 RBI which ranks 7th best. He is ranked 4th in total bases (184)

Tomas Perez is tied for 6th in triples (5).

Yordany Ramirez has stolen 15 bases (8th)

Reggie Abercrombie has stolen 14 bases (T-9th)

J. R. House is tied for 10th in OBP (. 403)

The Pitchers

The Express have only hit 15 batters for the fewest in the league. They have only walked 266, which is second lowest in the league.

Josh Muecke’s 7th wins tie him for 6th best in the league. His ERA (3.92) is the 9th best. He has pitched 105 2/3 innings which is the second most in the league. His WHIP (1.32) is tied for 6th best.

Runelvys Hernandez had the 5th best ERA and the second best WHIP prior to his call up the Houston.

Chad Reineke’s 79 Ks are 9th best in the league.

The Bad

The Hitters

Express currently ranks last in OBP (.318), and next to last in average (.258). They are 3rd from the bottom in slugging, OPS, runs, hits, and RBI. They have also taken the second fewest walks and been caught stealing more than any other team in the PCL.

Brooks Conrad has struck out 88 times which ties him for 7th most times. Edited: Good thing he plays for Sacramento now and not Round Rock.  Old habits die hard

Yordany Ramirez is tied for 6th most caught stealing (7)

Reggie Abercrombie and Nick Gorneault have been caught stealing 6 times each which ties them for 10th.

The Pitchers

As a team, the Express don’t rank in the bottom 3 of any category.

Josh Miller’s 112 hits put him in a tie for 9th most hits surrendered.

Chad Reineke’s 8 losses place him in a tie for 4th most in the league.

The Crowd

Express still fill the seats. They are in second with a nightly average of 9433.
