“You heard anything?”
Roy replied when a reporter asked him about the trade rumors and again, “if the Astros are out of the race late next month and approach him with a trade proposal that would send him to a contending team?”
“I don’t know, they haven’t approached me,” Oswalt said. “If the owner comes up and asks me, we’ll talk about it. The owner, GM, nobody has approached me about it.”

Hamilton out Monday
The Rangers could be without both Josh Hamilton and Milton Bradley for Wednesday’s game.
Hamilton has inflammation in his left knee. It barked at him on the dp in the 1st and affected his range when he tried the diving catch on the hit by Wigginton in the fourth inning.

Batshit
Major League Baseball’s Safety and Health Advisory Committee announced Wednesday that they’re fixin to do something about the problem of maple bats shattering.
MLB, for six weeks, has gathered broken-bat samples from around the major leagues, assembled the committee for the first time to dream up a maple balancing act that would satisfy players and ensure safety. The plans for now, announced in a release, include conversations with maple bat manufacturers, further laboratory tests on the bats and continued studies on the game-used bats that do shatter and a survey what protective devices are in place for fans and players at the 30 big league ballparks.
Or they could just take the Puma’s advice
“I just prefer the ash,” he said. “It bends a little more than maple. I like the feel of the ball coming off the bat. When a maple bat dies, it’s a spectacular occurrence, whereas ash bats slip gently into its good night.”
But a survey should fix thing right up. Not much else they can do because,
Commissioner Bud Selig can’t ban maple bats unilaterally because their use is a term and condition of employment and subject to collective bargaining.
Well if it’s in the collective bargaining contract, Brian O’Nora should be ok with that,
“I happened to be sitting behind the plate when this happened, and O’Nora instinctively turned back after the impact and almost immediately you could see a lot of blood.
He ran over toward the Royals dugout, where Jose Guillen grabbed him and put pressure on the wound with a towel to soak up the blood. The Royals training staff was there immediately.”
From Torrealba: “All I heard was, ‘Ow!’ Then I turn around and I see him running off the field, then I see he was bleeding, blood everywhere. I don’t even know what to say. When I saw that blood, it almost made me sick.”
