During this game, I checked my chinese fortune stick and it said, “You will have an exciting night followed by trouble.” How prophetic. Astros are now on a six-game slide.
JaneDoe is not having a good start to breaking her streak. Chocolate mousse didn’t help. Any and all sacrifices attempted by the members of the TalkZone has not helped.
The lead went back and forth between the Astros and the Orioles throughout the whole game. In the 7th, Brocail showed some spirit, which seemed to be lacking with this listless team. Seemed he was tossed by Ed Hickox (another MLB umpire thinking Astros fans needed to know who he is) but he was not. He ended up getting the strike out to end the 7th.
The 8th inning is the one where the french whore house perfume got spilled. 2 on 2 out for Brocail and in comes the pimp, Cecil Cooper, to make a pitching change. Brocail doesn’t get to pitch to Melvin Mora, who was o-fer on the night to this point. Jose Valverde comes in to finish the game. While Jose is throwing some serious heat, Mora got the better of him. A bases clearing double to give the Orioles the lead, which they hold onto into the three-up-three-down top of the 9th inning.
Some good points from tonights game: Carlos Lee seems to be gearing up for a hot streak (please don’t let this be a jinx.) and Michael Bourn is continuing his good play, whether in the lead-off spot or the 7-hole. The Astros committed no errors.
This game seemed to be a recap of the season. Starts out okay, then a total high (5-3 lead) the a crash and burn. Players not executing, overmanaching, whatever the reason, the Astros need to figure it out and try and fix it.
Bench Tidbits:
Neil Holfeld on the postgame report sucked, and not in a good way.
Cooper was upset that the Astros didn’t show up for Sundays game, stated his cliche in his post game interview, “It isn’t going to happen again.” He really needs to stop saying this. It keeps happening after he says it.
Cooper also got fined for making games too long. Maybe less pitching changes would prevent the game length. Hell, who knows, maybe the scores would be worse in this losing streak if he wasn’t making the changes.
Luke Scott is glad to be an Oriole. Well, I’m happy he’s happy.
I will be making my first trip to New York City, NY on Friday. I will see the Cincinnati Reds take on the New York Yankees on Friday. Not sure who I want to lose. Any suggestions on restaurants to eat at in Manhattan would be appreciated. (As long as they are reasonable, IOW, no $700 places.)
Becoming a Texans cheerleader isn’t as good as the Dallas Cowboy cheerleader show.
A new streak starts tomorrow.
