There is much for all of us to be thankful for I’m sure. One thing we want to endeavor to do around here is every once and awhile put our fansite focus on some worthy causes. This is our first foray into giving back or helping out any way we can. Ladies and gentlemen, we give you:
Thirty On One “A Selfless Act to Benefit Many”
This cause was brought to our attention by a regular and we gladly will lend a hand to promote the venture. Here is the scoop as found on thirtyonone.com:
Thirty On One (thirty stadiums on one motorcycle) is a Grassroots Fundraising effort for LIVESTRONG, The Lance Armstrong Foundation. This mammoth journey is being led by Cary Freels who is riding a motorcycle to all thirty Major League Baseball stadiums in a span of just forty days. Cary is embarking on this ambitious venture in order to raise money and awareness for cancer research and the support of cancer patients…causes that are near and dear to Cary’s heart. Funds raised thru this effort will go to LIVESTRONG in support of the many programs with which they are involved. LIVESTRONG’s tireless work has helped scientists and doctors make huge strides in their efforts to combat this illness that affects so many. Although organizations such as LIVESTRONG have helped make significant gains there is still so much that needs to be done. Continuing to keep cancer in the spotlight and the continuing support of individuals and corporations alike is vital to our eventual triumph over this deadly disease.
Cary, an experienced motorcycle rider, will ride a motorcycle across the country stopping at every Major League Baseball stadium to watch a full game with his mother. He will go to all thirty ballparks in a short forty days. Over 13,000 miles in forty days! Cary will be followed on this ride by his mother (the inspiration for this journey), his stepfather, and a camera crew. The enormous scope of this project makes it a true national effort. Thru this ride, and future rides, Cary is attempting to set a Guinness World Record™ in relation to visiting every stadium/arena in three major American professional sports.
Cary’s world was turned upside down six years ago when his mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. Now over five years in remission, Cary’s mother is living testament to the difference that dedicated doctors and scientists can make with strong gains in research and technology. Unfortunately though, much more is needed. It is thru the inspiration received from those who have fought so hard to live that Cary has dedicated himself to this worthy cause. Now he is asking others to help in any way they can. Whether you donate money, your time, or your voice to this cause know that every little bit helps.
With a national press release, the ride will begin May 27th in Seattle and will culminate on July 5th in Atlanta. In an effort to raise funds, Thirty On One is going to spread its message by promoting our website www.thirtyonone.com . Donors will be encouraged to visit our interactive website in order to track our progress, view photos and video, and access the secure link to our donation page on the LIVESTRONG website. We will also be collecting memorabilia from teams and fans throughout the journey that will be offered at a silent auction/benefit at the trips conclusion benefiting LIVESTRONG.
We believe wholeheartedly in “The Manifesto of the Lance Armstrong Foundation” which so simply yet eloquently states, “Unity is strength. Knowledge is power. Attitude is everything.” Unite with us today as we do everything we can to arm the scientists and doctors who devote their lives to eradicating this unfortunate illness. Their breakthroughs could very well save your life or the life a loved one.
Thank you for your support,
Cary Freels – Head Organizer

Here’s the deal, they will be in Houston tomorrow to watch Roy Oswalt pitch. They will be the ones in bright yellow shirts and caps to raise awareness to the cause. As their website says, they will collect whatever they can from each place they visit to collect momentos. If we had a SpikesnStars tee or cap, we’d certainly give them one, but we don’t. But if you’re there and want to go by and say hello, please do and let them know we’re behind them in their chase for the Guiness record. Here is some more information for you to consider:
Monday night from 5-9 p.m. we’re having a fundraiser at SRO on the corner of 610 and Hwy 290 (located in the Northwest Shopping Mall) for 30 On One and the Lance Armstrong Foundation, LiveStrong. As you know, Brooks is a part of the crew documenting the Thirty On One effort to raise money and awareness for cancer research.
Come after work, bring your friends, grab a bite and have a beer. Look for the LiveStrong RV and meet a great bunch of guys! We will also be attending the Astros game on Tuesday night, so wear yellow and come to the ballpark!
