Some mornings, we go from AAA down. Other days I flip flop it and we go from Low A up. Today, we are going to jump around alittle because the biggest news comes out of Corpus Christi.
Corpus Christi
Tip Fairchild made it back to the mound last night. His arm was pain free but his ego took a beating. He only went one inning hitting two batters, allowed four hits and three walks in the process of giving up 8 earned runs.
“I just didn’t execute any pitches,” said Fairchild, who called it a pain-free outing. “I don’t think I executed one pitch the right way or how I’ve been working on it down in extended spring training.
“I don’t know if it was nerves or being a little too pumped up, but that’s not how I pitch. I’ve got to find myself and go over some things this week before my next start.”
The Hooks rallied to make it close but couldn’t execute the big hit. They left 14 men on base and twice left the bases full in their 13-10 loss.
Salem
The Avs piled it on in Lynchburg last sending 14 batters to the plate in a 9 run 3rd inning and batting around again in a 4 run 7th. That is the only two innings a Salem baserunner touched home but it was enough for a 13-9 victory. Jordan Parraz went 3 for 6 with 4 RBI. Jimmy Van Ostrand went 3 for 5 with 2 doubles. Van Ostrand is hitting .302 for the month of May. Chad Wagler made his first appearance since coming off the DL getting the win by throwing 2 1/3 innings of relief allowing 2 hits and no runs.
Lexington
Colin Delome hit two homers. The second being a tie breaking solo shot that gave the Legends the 8-7 win in a day game yesterday. Delome has hit .361 over his last 10 games with 3 HR. Craig Corrado went 4 for 6 with 3 RBI.
Round Rock
The Express tried to make a dramatic comeback last night. Down 5-0 going in to the 9th, they plated two runs and had two on when Reggie Abercrombie came to the plate. Reggie struck out ending the rally. The final was an Express 5-2 loss.
