(Footer) Berkman left Sunday’s game in the eighth inning with a tweak of his groin muscle. “It’s that groin deal again, but I’m OK,” he said. Berkman is expected to be in the lineup Monday in San Francisco.

After stealing 2 bases against the Nationals on Tuesday, Berkman said. “I definitely felt like I got run over by a truck when I woke up [Wednesday] morning, but right now, I’m feeling all right.”
Berkman has had a slight groin issue for the last couple of years,
“Once you hurt something you’re always susceptible to it being tweaked,” he said. “After running hard last night, I had some hip flexor soreness — nothing that can keep me out of the lineup, but it’s something that needs to be monitored.”

Visitation rights
On going out to the mound, “Those guys know what they’re doing,” Berkman said. “They don’t come up to me in the batter’s box when I’m hitting. But by the same token, there are certain situations in games where guys either need a breather or they need to regroup or be reminded of what the situation is. You can get caught up in the heat of the moment.”
Tejada also makes frequent visits to the mound
“He’s responsible for the Latin guys,” Berkman said. “I’m responsible for the English-speaking guys.”

Sampson pitching for his job Saturday?
“It was a big start for him, that’s for sure,” manager Cecil Cooper said. “I didn’t give a lot of thought about what we might do [if he didn’t pitch well], but it was a big start for him.”

here’s what the problem was
Dewey Robinson noticed Sampson’s stride to the plate was about six inches longer than it had been while he was having success last year.
Cooper said.
“Chris didn’t even realize it was happening. It happened all spring training, and he didn’t realize it was happening. In some of his workout stuff, I think, he kind of got into some bad habits. He picked it up pretty easy. You looked at it, and it was a big difference. All of a sudden, he got it right and shortened up, and his arm was catching up with his body.”

Hazard pay?
No one had the nerve to ask Doug Brocail about the fit he threw on Sunday after he was taken out before he could record the save. I haven’t found a story yet
