The Express wrap up our look at the first month. We started this journey in Lexington. There was plenty of bad there. It isn’t looking much better down in Round Rock. They are 10-17 and in the cellar of the PCL American South. All stats are as of 5/3/08. Rankings out of the 16 team PCL.
The Good
Hitters
There is not much to brag on about the Round Rock offense. Round Rock is tied for the league lead in stolen bases (29). They are 6th in triples (7) and have the 5th fewest strike outs (187).
Reggie Abercrombie has the 3rd most stolen bases (8).
Yordany Remirez is tied for 4th most stolen bases (7).
Mark Saccomanno is tied with a host of others at 7th most triples (2).
Pitchers
Round Rock pitchers have only hit 2 batters, fewest in the league. Both of the HBP have been by Runelvys Hernandez. They have also walked the fewest (78).
Josh Miller’s 2.38 ERA is good for 8th best. His WHIP (1.06) is good for a tie for 7th.
The Bad:
Hitters
Abysmal is the word that comes to mind. Round Rock is dead last in the league in the following categories: Runs Scored (103), Hits (195), Doubles (34), RBI (90), Total Bases (300), OBP (.299), SLG (.341), Average (.222) and OPS (.640). They are next to last in HR with 19.
Reggie Abercrombie has struck out 34 times, 2nd most in the PCL.
Pitchers
Nothing much here that stands out as awful. It is just mediocre.
