After blowing the 3-0 lead in the 9th in Philadelphia, “Jose’s our guy,” Astros manager Cecil Cooper said. “He’s our closer. And we were in the right situation. He just didn’t make any pitches at all. He threw a first-pitch fastball down and in to the pinch-hitter Snelling and he put a good swing on that pitch. We dodged a bullet. We got Howard. He just didn’t make his pitches.” Link
In Phoenix, “We can’t get the stinking pitcher out, we’re in trouble,” Cooper said. “My goodness. Two-run lead and we can’t even get out of the stinking inning. That’s unacceptable, and it won’t happen again, I can promise you that. You get these guys down, you’ve got them, 4-0, 6-2, and we let them back in the game. It won’t happen again. It definitely won’t happen again.” Link

Wade said pitching coach Dewey Robinson wanted to push back Rodriguez’s timetable. Link
