“[Sampson] was fine the first couple of innings,” Cooper said. “Then he started to get it up in the zone, and when Chris pitches up, good things are not going to happen for him when he pitches upstairs. I thought that’s what he did there.”

Cooper on Valverde “He made a change in his delivery, a bad habit he got into in spring training and didn’t realize it.”
On being traded, “I know those guys (players) for a long time,” Valverde said. “When the Diamondbacks traded me, nobody called me. The GM called on my cellphone, the manager (Bob Melvin) called me on my cellphone, after that, nobody.”
Asked if he was surprised at that, he laughed and said, “I think everybody’s happy.”
