Bob Allen is reporting that the head coach of St. Thomas High School, Ken Schulte, stepped down on Monday, saying he wanted to “look for a position closer to his home in Brazosport.”
Biggio has been working as the assistant baseball coach at St. Thomas on a volunteer basis. “Sources say” Biggio is the first choice to take over.

Astros designated Tomas Perez for assignment tonight and will call up righthander Jack Cassel to start Thursday
…Cooper said. “Brad Ausmus is my other utility player, … (we’ll) see how that works out”
“It’s tough for me,” Perez said. “I think it’s tougher for the manager and them to make a decision. It’s baseball.” …he vowed to accept his assignment if he clears waivers.
