What the Marlins say,

The Marlins have fattened up on weaklings thanks to a soft early schedule. …
”I think [it’s] the sign of a good team [that] you’re supposed to beat those guys,” right fielder Jeremy Hermida said. ‘That’s something we didn’t do last year. We played to our opponents’ level sometimes. We knew we were better than certain teams, and sometimes we’d play down to those teams.”

The Marlins entered Monday with a cumulative record of 8-4 against teams that owned three of the worst records in the National League — the Houston Astros, Pittsburgh Pirates and Washington Nationals.
