AP recap
First inning, Woody makes a mistake to Duncan, Astros behind 3-0 before they grab a bat. The Cards only needed one tally as the Astros looked extremely flat and managed a mere 5 singles, a double, and a walk, never reaching third base.
Thanks, Drayton.
New interm manager Cecil Cooper laid down the law with this quote from today.
“We have been a little nice, and maybe too nice,” Cooper said. “It’s good to have friends on the other side and be buddy-buddy, but at some point, you have to compete against those guys. The time you do it is at 7 o’clock. We need to have a better effort with that once the game starts.”
Woody took his advice, yelling at Anaheim Jim standing on first as Woody was headed for the showers after a close pitch was ruled ball four in the 5th, loading the bases.
No word from Twinkie on this new game altering directive.
Roy returns from missing a start and will pitch tomorrow evening, and hopefully celebrate his 30th birthday.
